2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Gets More Power, Self Lowering Suspension and Advanced Rider Assistance Systems
Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the updated 2027 Tiger 1200, bringing significant changes to its engine, suspension, rider assistance technology and overall design. The premium adventure touring motorcycle is designed to offer improved performance, better low-speed control and enhanced convenience for long-distance riders.
The new model features a revised 1,160cc, liquid-cooled, triple-cylinder engine that produces 158 PS and 130 Nm of torque. This represents an increase of 8 PS compared with the previous version. Triumph has also updated the gearbox, shaft drive and suspension system while introducing radar-based rider assistance features and an upgraded touchscreen.
For the Indian market, Triumph has confirmed that the GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants are expected to arrive in March 2027. The company has not officially announced Indian prices for the updated model, so the reported starting price of Rs. 20.99 lakh should not be treated as confirmed.
More Power From the Updated 1,160cc Engine
The 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 continues to use a 1,160cc triple-cylinder engine, but several internal components have been revised to improve performance and refinement. The engine now delivers 158 PS at 9,250 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm.
The power increase is supported by changes to the cylinder head, pistons, valves, fuel injection and exhaust system. Triumph has also revised the first three gear ratios and refined the six-speed gearbox and shaft drive.
These changes are intended to improve throttle response, low-speed manoeuvrability and overall riding smoothness. Better low-speed control is particularly useful when handling a large adventure motorcycle in traffic, making tight turns or moving slowly over uneven surfaces.
The shaft-drive setup also helps reduce some of the routine maintenance associated with conventional chain-driven motorcycles, making it a practical feature for riders who frequently travel long distances.
Self Lowering Suspension Improves Accessibility
One of the most significant updates is the introduction of SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX semi-active suspension. The system automatically lowers the motorcycle's seat by approximately 30mm as the bike comes to a stop and restores the riding height when the motorcycle moves again.
This function is designed to help riders place their feet more confidently on the ground when stopping. It could be particularly helpful for riders who find the seat height of large adventure motorcycles challenging.
The suspension offers three selectable damping settings: Firm, Medium and Soft. These allow riders to adjust the suspension response according to road conditions and personal preferences. The system also uses automatic preload adjustment to help maintain the motorcycle's ride characteristics.
With the optional low seat, the lower seat adjustment and the automatic ride-height function activated, the seat height can be reduced to approximately 790mm when stationary. Triumph has also added a Centre Stand Assist function that temporarily increases suspension preload to make placing the motorcycle on its centre stand easier.
New Radar Based Rider Assistance Technology
The updated Tiger 1200 receives front and rear radar systems developed with Bosch. These systems support a range of Advanced Rider Assistance Systems designed to improve rider awareness and convenience.
The available features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, emergency brake assistance, blind spot assistance, rear distance warning and group ride assistance. Riding distance assistance is also included in the technology package.
These systems are intended to help riders monitor traffic conditions and receive warnings when potential hazards are detected. Depending on the function, the technology may also adjust speed or provide braking assistance.
However, rider assistance systems do not replace the need for careful riding. Motorcyclists must continue to monitor traffic, maintain safe distances and remain in control of the vehicle.
The motorcycle also retains electronic safety systems such as cornering ABS and traction control, which help manage braking and wheel traction under different riding conditions.
Seven Inch Touchscreen and Smartphone Connectivity
Triumph has upgraded the Tiger 1200 with a seven-inch high-definition touchscreen. The display supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing compatible smartphones to provide navigation, music and other supported functions.
A cooled phone compartment with USB-C charging has also been integrated into the motorcycle. This provides a convenient place to store and charge a compatible device during a ride.
The updated model features revised switchgear and an adaptive LED cornering headlight. The headlight system is designed to improve illumination when the motorcycle leans into a turn, helping riders see more of the road through bends.
Together, these features aim to make the motorcycle more convenient for daily use and long-distance touring.
GT Pro and Rally Explorer Variants for India
Triumph has confirmed that the 2027 Tiger 1200 will reach India in two variants: GT Pro and Rally Explorer. Although the global range includes additional versions, these are the two models announced for the initial Indian launch.
The GT Pro is designed with a more road-focused setup. It features cast aluminium wheels and a 20-litre fuel tank, making it suitable for riders who primarily use paved roads and undertake touring journeys.
The Rally Explorer is aimed at riders seeking a more adventure-oriented configuration. It features side-laced spoked wheels, a larger 30-litre fuel tank and additional equipment intended for longer trips and off-road riding. It also offers an Off-road Pro riding mode and additional engine protection.
Both variants use a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, with 200mm of suspension travel. Heated rider and passenger seats, along with three-stage heated grips, are included across the range.
India Launch Timeline and Expected Price
The updated Triumph Tiger 1200 is scheduled to arrive in India in March 2027. Triumph is expected to reveal Indian prices and further booking details closer to the launch.
Although the supplied headline mentions a price of Rs. 20.99 lakh, available reports indicate that the official Indian pricing for the updated model has not yet been announced. Buyers should wait for confirmation from Triumph before relying on a specific price.
The existing model's price should not be confused with the price of the updated 2027 version, as changes to equipment and technology could affect the final cost.
What the 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 Update Means for Buyers
The latest update strengthens the Tiger 1200's appeal as a premium adventure touring motorcycle. The more powerful engine, self-lowering suspension, radar-based assistance systems and smartphone connectivity represent substantial changes to performance and convenience.
The GT Pro may appeal to riders who prioritise road touring, while the Rally Explorer is better suited to buyers seeking a larger fuel tank and additional adventure-oriented equipment.
With the Indian launch scheduled for March 2027, prospective buyers will need to wait for official pricing and booking information. The updated Tiger 1200 combines greater performance with new technology, but its final value will depend on the confirmed Indian price and the equipment offered on each variant.
