Ducati India has teased the new DesertX V2 ahead of its planned introduction in the Indian market. The second generation adventure motorcycle was unveiled globally earlier in 2026 and is scheduled to arrive in India during the fourth quarter of 2026. The latest teaser gives prospective buyers an early look at Ducati's updated adventure motorcycle before its official Indian launch.
The new DesertX represents a major technical update over the previous generation. Ducati has redesigned the motorcycle around a new 890 cc V2 engine and a dedicated aluminium monocoque chassis. The company says the new platform has been developed to improve off road capability while retaining the performance and usability expected from an adventure motorcycle.
The biggest change is the engine. The DesertX V2 is powered by Ducati's 890 cc V2 engine with intake variable valve timing. The engine produces 110 hp at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. Ducati says around 70 percent of the maximum torque is available from 3,000 rpm, which is intended to provide a strong response at lower engine speeds.
The engine is paired with a six speed gearbox and Ducati Quick Shift 2.0. Ducati has developed the transmission ratios specifically for the DesertX. The lower gears are designed to provide greater control during technical off road riding, while the higher gears are intended to make longer road journeys more comfortable.
The new engine is also part of Ducati's effort to reduce weight and improve the motorcycle's overall packaging. The manufacturer describes the 890 cc V2 as its lightest twin cylinder engine of this type. The engine works as a structural element within the motorcycle's new monocoque chassis.
The chassis is another important area of change. The DesertX V2 uses a dedicated aluminium monocoque structure that also functions as the airbox. A steel trellis subframe is retained at the rear. Ducati says this arrangement helps provide a compact structure while contributing to the motorcycle's handling characteristics.
Suspension hardware has also been revised for the second generation model. At the front, the motorcycle uses a 46 mm fully adjustable KYB upside down fork with 230 mm of wheel travel. At the rear, it gets a KYB shock absorber with progressive linkage and 220 mm of wheel travel. The suspension is designed to improve control and comfort over uneven terrain.
The DesertX V2 continues with a 21 inch front wheel and an 18 inch rear wheel. Both wheels use a tubeless spoke design. Ducati lists Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres for the motorcycle, with a 90/90 front tyre and a 150/70 rear tyre. This wheel and tyre combination is intended to provide a balance between road riding and off road use.
Ducati has also revised the riding position. The footpegs, seat and handlebar positions have been changed to give the rider a more active posture, particularly when standing on the footpegs during off road riding. The motorcycle has a narrower fuel tank intended to make rider movement easier.
The standard seat height is listed at 880 mm. Ducati also provides lower seat and suspension options that can reduce the seat height further. These options are intended to make the motorcycle more accessible to riders with different requirements.
The braking system consists of twin 305 mm front discs with Brembo four piston radial callipers. The motorcycle also receives a rear disc brake and electronic braking assistance. Ducati has focused on providing braking performance suitable for both road riding and more demanding off road conditions.
Electronics form another major part of the DesertX V2 update. The motorcycle uses a six axis inertial measurement unit and comes with a range of rider assistance systems. These include cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control and Engine Brake Control. Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 is also included.
The DesertX V2 offers six riding modes. These are Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally. The different modes allow the rider to adjust the motorcycle's behaviour according to road conditions and riding requirements. Enduro and Rally modes are particularly relevant to the motorcycle's off road positioning.
The motorcycle also receives a new five inch full TFT instrument display. The display provides information through different layouts and is designed to accommodate functions such as navigation. Ducati also lists features such as cruise control and compatibility with additional electronic equipment.
The new DesertX has been developed with a stronger focus on off road performance. Ducati says the second generation model benefits from feedback gathered through development and competition in demanding environments. The revised chassis, longer travel suspension and updated ergonomics are intended to make the motorcycle easier to control on difficult surfaces.
At the same time, Ducati has retained features intended for long distance road use. The revised transmission ratios, electronic rider aids, cruise control and updated riding position are designed to make the motorcycle suitable for a combination of highway travel, touring and off road riding.
The new DesertX also receives a redesigned fuel tank. Ducati says the slimmer tank helps the rider move around more easily and contributes to the motorcycle's ergonomics. The fuel volume is positioned to help lower the centre of gravity and improve handling.
The motorcycle has a wet weight of 209 kg without fuel according to Ducati's technical specifications. Its suspension travel and 21 inch front wheel give it the hardware expected from an adventure motorcycle aimed at serious off road use.
For the Indian market, Ducati has confirmed that the DesertX V2 will arrive during Q4 2026. The company has not yet announced the final India specific price in the available official information. The existing DesertX family in India currently starts at Rs 23.27 lakh ex showroom, although the new V2 should not be assumed to carry the same price.
Some industry reports expect the new DesertX V2 to be positioned in the premium adventure motorcycle segment when it arrives in India. However, the final price, variant details and equipment available for the Indian market will be confirmed by Ducati closer to the launch.
The new motorcycle will compete in India's premium adventure motorcycle category, where buyers typically look for a combination of long distance touring ability, off road hardware, advanced electronics and strong engine performance. The DesertX V2's 890 cc V2 engine, long travel suspension and 21 inch front wheel give it a clear focus on adventure riding.
The India teaser is therefore an important step ahead of the motorcycle's planned launch. Ducati has already confirmed the major technical specifications globally, while Indian customers will have to wait for the company's official announcement regarding pricing, booking details and exact availability.
The new DesertX V2 is expected to appeal to riders who want a premium adventure motorcycle capable of handling both highways and challenging terrain. Its redesigned chassis, revised ergonomics and new electronics package represent a substantial update over the earlier DesertX.
As the Q4 2026 India launch approaches, Ducati is expected to release more information about the Indian specification, pricing and availability. Until those details are officially announced, prospective buyers should rely on Ducati India for confirmed information rather than unofficial price estimates.
The second generation DesertX therefore brings together Ducati's new 890 cc V2 engine, redesigned chassis, upgraded suspension, revised riding position and expanded electronic package. With the India launch scheduled for the final quarter of 2026, the model will become one of Ducati's important upcoming adventure motorcycle introductions in the country.
