Ducati has unveiled the new Monster Dark internationally, bringing an all-black design to its popular Monster motorcycle range. The latest version combines a distinctive dark appearance with the performance and technology of Ducati's 890cc V2 engine. The motorcycle produces a maximum power output of 111 hp and peak torque of 91.1 Nm, while retaining modern electronics and four riding modes. The new model is aimed at riders who prefer a more understated appearance without giving up the performance-oriented character of the Monster family.

The most noticeable change in the Monster Dark is its exterior styling. Ducati has introduced an all-black finish that gives the motorcycle a more minimal and aggressive appearance. The dark treatment extends to the wheels, while several components, including the front frame, exhaust end caps and intake snorkel, are left unpainted. The motorcycle also gets a single-material seat, contributing to its clean overall design.

The new finish gives the Monster Dark a different identity compared with more colourful versions of the motorcycle. Rather than relying on bright graphics or contrasting paintwork, the Dark edition focuses on a simple black appearance. The sculpted fuel tank, compact front section and short rear design continue to retain the familiar Monster styling. These design elements help preserve the model's established identity while giving the latest version a distinct visual character.

Powering the Ducati Monster Dark is an 890cc V2 engine featuring Intake Variable Timing technology. The engine delivers 111 hp at 9,000 rpm and 91.1 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. This powertrain is designed to provide a combination of strong performance and usable power delivery across different riding conditions. Ducati's variable timing system adjusts the intake valve timing to support engine performance at different speeds.

The manufacturer states that more than 80 per cent of the engine's maximum torque is available between 4,000 rpm and 10,000 rpm. This broad torque delivery can be useful for riders who want responsive acceleration during everyday road use as well as on winding routes. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, while a quick-shifter is available as an option rather than being listed among the standard equipment.

The motorcycle also focuses on reducing weight. Ducati lists a kerb weight of 175 kg without fuel, which is four kilograms lower than the previous generation. Its aluminium monocoque frame uses the engine as a structural component, while the rear section combines technopolymer and trellis construction. These engineering choices are intended to support a lightweight structure and agile handling.

The suspension system includes a 43mm Showa upside-down front fork and a Showa rear shock absorber with preload adjustment. Braking duties are handled by Brembo M4.32 calipers, while the motorcycle uses Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. These components are part of the bike's performance-oriented hardware and are designed to support stability, braking performance and control.

Technology is another important part of the new Monster Dark. The motorcycle comes with a six-axis inertial measurement unit that supports several electronic rider assistance systems. These include cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control and Engine Brake Control. Such systems help riders manage braking, traction and power delivery under different riding conditions. Their intervention levels can be customised according to the selected settings.

The bike offers four riding modes: Sport, Road, Urban and Wet. Each mode is designed for different riding environments and conditions. Sport mode is intended for a more dynamic riding experience, while Road mode offers a balanced setup for regular use. Urban and Wet modes are designed to provide settings suited to city riding and lower-grip conditions. The motorcycle also includes customisable power modes that allow riders to adjust engine response.

The instrument panel is a five-inch full-colour TFT display. It provides riding information and access to the motorcycle's electronic settings. Ducati has also introduced a petal-shaped joystick control system to make it easier for riders to navigate the available functions. The lighting system uses full LED technology and includes daytime running lights.

The Monster Dark has a seat height of 815mm. Ducati also offers optional accessories, including a lower seat and a suspension-lowering kit, which can reduce the seat height further. These options may help riders who prefer a lower seating position. The fuel tank has a capacity of 14 litres, while the motorcycle is designed to accommodate two people.

Maintenance intervals are another notable detail. Ducati lists a valve-clearance inspection interval of 45,000 kilometres for the 890cc V2 engine. This extended interval may be an important consideration for owners planning long-term use, although regular servicing and other maintenance requirements will still apply according to the manufacturer's schedule.

The international unveiling of the Monster Dark adds another styling option to Ducati's established naked motorcycle family. Its main appeal lies in the combination of an all-black finish, a powerful V2 engine, lightweight construction and modern electronic equipment. The model retains the familiar Monster character while offering a different visual identity for riders who prefer a darker design.

Overall, the Ducati Monster Dark brings together a distinctive appearance and established performance features. Its 890cc V2 engine produces 111 hp and 91.1 Nm of torque, while four riding modes and electronic rider assistance systems provide additional control. Pricing and market-specific availability may vary by country, and buyers should check with their local Ducati dealer for launch details and specifications applicable to their region.
