New Honda ADV125 Unveiled Ahead of EICMA 2026 With 125cc Engine and 97 kmph Top Speed
Honda has introduced the new ADV125 adventure scooter ahead of its appearance at the EICMA 2026 motorcycle exhibition in Milan, Italy. The new model expands Honda's adventure scooter family with a smaller-capacity option designed primarily for urban commuting and everyday use. It combines adventure-inspired styling with practical features, modern technology and a fuel-efficient 125cc engine.
The ADV125 takes design inspiration from Honda's larger adventure scooters, including the X-ADV and ADV350. However, its compact engine and practical equipment make it more suitable for riders looking for a lightweight scooter with a distinctive adventure appearance.
The new scooter is powered by a 125cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder eSP+ engine. It has a claimed top speed of 97 kmph and a reported fuel efficiency of 47.6 kmpl under the World Motorcycle Test Cycle. With its 8.1-litre fuel tank, the estimated riding range is approximately 385 km under the stated test conditions.
Honda ADV125 Engine and Performance
The Honda ADV125 uses a 125cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder eSP+ engine. The powertrain is based on the engine used in the Honda PCX125 and is designed to deliver a balance of performance and fuel efficiency.
The engine produces approximately 12.3 bhp of maximum power and 11.7 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission, commonly known as a CVT. This automatic transmission allows riders to accelerate without manually changing gears, making the scooter convenient for city traffic.
Honda has also incorporated technologies intended to improve engine efficiency and everyday usability. These include programmed fuel injection, an Idling Stop system and an ACG starter. The Idling Stop function automatically switches off the engine when the scooter remains stationary under suitable conditions and restarts it when the rider accelerates.
The ADV125 has a reported top speed of 97 kmph. Honda's stated fuel consumption figure is approximately 47.6 kmpl under the WMTC testing cycle. With an 8.1-litre fuel tank, the estimated range is around 385 km. Actual fuel economy and riding range may vary depending on traffic, road conditions, riding style and load.
Adventure-Inspired Design and Styling
The ADV125 follows the design language of Honda's larger adventure scooters. It features sharp bodywork, an upright riding position, a prominent front section and a raised windscreen. Its styling is intended to give the scooter a rugged appearance while retaining the compact proportions required for urban use.
The front section features LED lighting and a distinctive headlamp design. The scooter also gets a stepped seat and body panels inspired by adventure motorcycles. Its overall appearance is similar to the X-ADV and ADV350, allowing the smaller model to share the visual identity of Honda's adventure scooter family.
One practical feature is its manually adjustable windscreen. The screen can be adjusted through five positions, with approximately 75mm of movement. Riders can select a lower position for city use or raise it to improve wind protection during longer journeys.
Honda is offering the ADV125 in four colour options. These include Pearl Falcon Gray, Pearl Cool White, Mat Cynos Gray Metallic and Mat Pearl Diaspro Red.
TFT Display and Smart Connectivity
The new Honda ADV125 receives a five-inch full-colour TFT instrument display. The screen provides riding information and supports smartphone connectivity through Honda RoadSync.
After connecting a compatible smartphone, riders can access supported functions such as navigation, calls, messages and music controls. The connected features are intended to make everyday riding more convenient while allowing riders to access selected information through the instrument display.
The scooter also gets Honda Smart Key technology. This keyless system allows the rider to operate the ignition and access the seat and fuel filler without using a conventional key. The system also includes anti-theft and answer-back functions.
For additional convenience, Honda has provided a USB Type-C charging port. Riders can use it to charge compatible mobile devices during their journeys.
Safety and Rider Assistance Features
The ADV125 includes Honda Selectable Torque Control, also known as HSTC. This traction control system monitors rear-wheel traction and helps reduce wheelspin when it detects a loss of grip. Riders can also switch the system off when required.
The scooter features an Emergency Stop Signal system, which activates the hazard lights during sudden braking under specified conditions to alert vehicles behind.
For braking, the ADV125 uses disc brakes at both ends, supported by a single-channel Anti-lock Braking System. The front wheel gets a 240mm disc, while the rear uses a 220mm disc.
These features provide additional assistance during everyday riding, particularly in changing road and weather conditions. However, electronic assistance systems do not replace careful riding or safe braking practices.
Suspension, Wheels and Practical Equipment
Honda has equipped the ADV125 with a steel frame, telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. The suspension setup is designed to handle regular city roads as well as uneven surfaces.
The scooter uses a 14-inch front wheel and a 13-inch rear wheel. Its block-pattern tubeless tyres are intended to provide suitable grip on paved roads and additional confidence on broken or uneven surfaces.
The reported ground clearance is 165mm, while the seat height is approximately 780mm. These dimensions are intended to provide a manageable riding position for a wide range of users.
The ADV125 also focuses on storage and everyday practicality. It offers 29 litres of under-seat storage, which is designed to accommodate a full-face helmet, depending on its size and shape. An additional two-litre storage compartment is provided at the front.
Honda also offers optional accessories, including a 40-litre Smart Top Box, heated grips, a security alarm and a rear carrier. These accessories allow owners to customise the scooter according to their commuting and touring requirements.
Honda ADV125 and Its Position in the ADV Scooter Range
Honda introduced the X-ADV as part of its City Adventure concept, combining scooter convenience with the styling and riding character of an adventure motorcycle. The ADV350 further expanded the range with a smaller engine and a more accessible format.
The ADV125 takes this concept into the 125cc category. It is aimed particularly at riders in European markets who hold an A1 motorcycle licence and want a practical commuter with adventure-inspired styling.
Its smaller engine makes it different from the larger X-ADV and ADV350. The ADV125 focuses on urban mobility, fuel efficiency and convenience rather than high-speed touring or demanding off-road riding.
Will the Honda ADV125 Launch in India?
Honda has introduced the ADV125 as part of its international product line-up, with a focus on the European market. The company has not confirmed an India launch, Indian pricing or a domestic availability schedule.
The scooter's 125cc engine capacity places it in a familiar segment for Indian two-wheeler buyers. However, its international specifications and equipment do not automatically mean that the same model will be introduced in India.
If Honda considers bringing the ADV125 to the Indian market, pricing, localisation and customer demand are likely to influence its positioning. For now, buyers in India will have to wait for an official announcement from the company.
The Honda ADV125 brings adventure-inspired styling, automatic transmission, smartphone connectivity and practical storage to the 125cc scooter category. Its claimed 97 kmph top speed and reported 47.6 kmpl fuel efficiency are among its key specifications. Further details about market availability will become clear as Honda expands its international product announcements following EICMA 2026.
