Mercedes-Benz is preparing to introduce the updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in India on October 5, 2026. The flagship luxury sedan will arrive with a range of exterior, interior and technology updates as part of the latest Maybach S-Class generation. The India launch will take place during the upcoming festive season, with the model expected to continue serving customers looking for a high-end luxury sedan with an emphasis on rear-seat comfort, technology and personalisation.
The updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has already been revealed internationally. Mercedes-Benz describes the latest model as the most extensive update in the history of the Maybach S-Class. The company has focused on refining the exterior design, improving the digital experience, introducing electrified engine technology and expanding its customisation programme.
One of the most noticeable exterior changes is the redesigned Maybach grille. The front grille is larger and receives illumination, while the Maybach lettering adds to the visual identity of the luxury sedan. The bonnet-mounted Mercedes star also gets an illuminated treatment. The headlamps feature updated lighting signatures, while the rear lamps receive corresponding design changes.
Mercedes-Maybach has also expanded the choice of wheels and exterior finishes. A new Nautic Blue Metallic shade is part of the available design options, while the Night Series palette continues to offer darker exterior combinations. Customers will also have access to additional MANUFAKTUR finishes depending on the market and specification.
The cabin receives more extensive technology updates. The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class introduces Mercedes-Benz's MB.OS operating system to the Maybach range for the first time. It works with the fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system and a Maybach-specific interface design.
The MBUX Superscreen combines the central and front passenger displays beneath a single glass surface. The driver also gets a digital instrument cluster, with a three-dimensional display available depending on specification. The Maybach-specific interface uses rose-gold themed graphics and other design elements intended to distinguish the cabin from the standard S-Class.
Rear-seat passengers continue to be a major focus of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. The updated model receives two large rear displays, each measuring 31.3 centimetres. These screens are paired with redesigned individual remote controls, allowing rear passengers to manage various entertainment and comfort functions.
The luxury sedan also continues with features such as Executive rear seats, automatic comfort doors and a dedicated refrigerated compartment. Mercedes-Benz has also highlighted silver-plated Robbe and Berking champagne flutes as part of the available luxury equipment. Availability of individual features in India will depend on the final variant and option configuration.
Powertrain technology is another important area of the update. Mercedes-Benz has introduced newly engineered electrified six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines with mild-hybrid technology. The system is designed to provide additional efficiency, smoother responses and energy recuperation during driving. In selected international markets, the Maybach S-Class will also continue to offer a V12 engine.
The global range includes different powertrain configurations depending on the market. However, Mercedes-Benz has not yet published the complete India-specific variant and engine combination for the October 5 launch. Therefore, Indian buyers should wait for the official announcement before assuming that every global engine option will be available in India.
Technology and driver assistance have also been upgraded. The new Maybach S-Class uses an expanded sensor and computing architecture to support advanced driving and parking assistance systems. Mercedes-Benz says its MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO system can support point-to-point driving, including in dense urban environments, subject to market-specific regulations and equipment.
Personalisation remains one of the strongest areas of the Maybach S-Class. Mercedes-Benz offers its MANUFAKTUR programme with a broad selection of exterior paints, interior colours, materials and handcrafted details. The updated model expands this programme further through MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure.
According to Mercedes-Benz, customers can choose from more than 150 exterior paint options and over 400 interior colours. The Made to Measure programme goes beyond the standard catalogue by allowing customers to request highly individual combinations of paint, leather, stitching and decorative elements, subject to technical feasibility.
The interior can also be specified with different materials and upholstery choices. Mercedes-Benz has introduced a leather-free upholstery option using a high-grade Mirville textile. New open-pore wood finishes and additional colour combinations are also available as part of the updated luxury package.
In India, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will continue to sit above the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the company's luxury sedan range. Mercedes-Benz India's current website lists the Maybach S-Class separately from the regular S-Class, reflecting its positioning as a more exclusive model. The current Maybach S-Class is listed in India from Rs 2.875 crore, although the updated model's launch price has not yet been announced.
The final India-specific price is expected to be announced on or around the October 5 launch. Pricing could vary depending on the selected variant, equipment and personalisation options. Customers choosing MANUFAKTUR or Made to Measure features should also expect the final cost to depend on the configuration selected.
The October 5 launch will therefore provide more clarity on the India-specific powertrain, variants, equipment, pricing and delivery schedule. Mercedes-Benz is expected to reveal these details closer to the launch event.
With its updated exterior, advanced digital cabin, rear-seat technology, electrified powertrain options and expanded personalisation programme, the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class represents a substantial update to the company's flagship luxury sedan. The India launch on October 5 will mark the arrival of these latest changes in the Indian market.
