Hyundai Motor India has officially opened bookings for the upcoming Hyundai Bayon SUV ahead of its planned festive-season arrival in the Indian market. Customers interested in the new SUV can place a booking through Hyundai’s official website or at authorised Hyundai dealerships by paying an initial amount of Rs 11,000. The company has not yet announced the final launch date or pricing, with both details expected to be revealed closer to the market introduction.
The Bayon will become another important addition to Hyundai’s SUV portfolio in India. Measuring around 4.2 metres in length, the new SUV will be positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s line-up. The model is aimed at customers looking for a larger SUV than the Venue while sitting below the Creta in the company’s range.
Hyundai has focused strongly on technology with the new Bayon. One of its key highlights is an in-built generative AI voice assistant. According to Hyundai, the system is designed to provide a more natural and intuitive interaction between the driver and the vehicle. The company is positioning the Bayon as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, with technology, convenience and connected mobility forming a major part of its product strategy.
The exterior design of the Bayon follows Hyundai’s latest SUV design direction. The company has highlighted a sculpted bonnet, a futuristic front fascia and signature H-Edge LED daytime running lights. The SUV also gets geometric wheel arches, wrap-around door cladding and bridge-type roof rails. These elements are intended to give the Bayon a distinctive SUV appearance while maintaining a modern crossover-style profile.
Hyundai has also placed considerable emphasis on safety. The Bayon is built on the company’s Global K Enhanced Platform, which Hyundai says has been engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards. The automaker has described safety as one of the five core pillars of the SUV, alongside intelligence, comfort, performance and style. Hyundai has also stated that the Bayon will feature a range of safety technologies, although the complete variant-wise equipment list has not yet been disclosed.
On the powertrain front, Hyundai has officially confirmed a petrol engine for the Indian-spec Bayon. The SUV will be available with a manual transmission as well as Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission, or IVT. The company says the petrol powertrain is designed to provide a refined and responsive driving experience while also focusing on everyday usability and efficiency.
Recent automotive reports have identified the engine as a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, with manual and automatic transmission choices expected. However, customers should wait for Hyundai’s final specifications and variant details before making assumptions about the complete engine range and equipment list. Earlier reports have also discussed the possibility of additional powertrain options, but Hyundai’s latest official booking announcement confirms the petrol engine with manual and IVT transmission options.
The Bayon is also expected to offer a technology-focused cabin. Earlier design information indicated a modern dashboard layout with connected digital displays, a redesigned centre console and convenience-focused equipment. Hyundai has not yet released the complete production-specification feature list, so features should be confirmed when the company announces the individual variants.
With bookings now open, the Hyundai Bayon is entering the final stage ahead of its Indian market launch. The company has said that the SUV will arrive during the festive season, while the exact launch date and delivery schedule will be communicated at the time of launch. Some reports expect the formal introduction around October 2026, but Hyundai has not officially confirmed a specific date.
For customers interested in booking the SUV, the initial amount is Rs 11,000. Bookings can be made online through Hyundai India or through authorised Hyundai dealerships across the country. Buyers should also note that the booking amount and cancellation or refund conditions may be subject to the terms applicable at the time of booking.
The final price of the Hyundai Bayon has not been announced. Its positioning between the Venue and Creta means it will enter a competitive midsize SUV segment in India. Hyundai is expected to reveal the full variant line-up, prices, detailed specifications, safety equipment and delivery information closer to the official launch.
The Hyundai Bayon therefore brings together a new SUV design, connected technology, an in-built generative AI voice assistant, a petrol powertrain and manual and IVT transmission choices. With bookings already underway at Rs 11,000, more details about pricing and variants are expected before the festive-season launch.
