Across other major cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, gold rates remained broadly aligned with national trends, with minor variations due to local taxes, transportation costs and demand conditions.

Gold prices across India recorded notable fluctuations on February 17 2026, reflecting volatility in both domestic and international bullion markets. The yellow metal, which had earlier touched record highs, has declined by nearly Rs 26000 from its recent peak, though it continues to trade at elevated levels.

According to figures released by the All India Sarafa Association, the price of 24 carat gold in Delhi climbed to Rs 159200 per 10 grams including all applicable taxes on Tuesday. This marked an increase from the previous closing rate of Rs 158500 per 10 grams. Market participants noted that bullion prices are witnessing sharp intraday swings due to global cues and currency movements.

Data compiled by Goodreturns showed that the retail price of 24 carat gold stood at Rs 15491 per gram. Meanwhile, 22 carat gold was priced at Rs 14200 per gram and 18 carat gold at Rs 11618 per gram. These per gram rates are commonly tracked by consumers planning jewellery purchases and small investments.

The Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association, which provides benchmark bullion rates widely followed by jewellers across the country, reported that 24 carat gold was valued at Rs 154098 per 10 grams on Tuesday morning. The association listed 22 carat gold at Rs 141154 per 10 grams and 18 carat gold at Rs 115574 per 10 grams. These benchmark prices are revised multiple times during the trading day to reflect market movements.

Across other major cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, gold rates remained broadly aligned with national trends, with minor variations due to local taxes, transportation costs and demand conditions. Jewellers in metropolitan markets reported steady consumer enquiries despite price volatility.

Market analysts attribute the recent correction from peak levels to profit booking in international markets and fluctuations in the US dollar. Domestic demand patterns, wedding season purchases and central bank policies also play a significant role in influencing gold prices.

Gold continues to be regarded as a traditional store of value and a hedge against inflation in India. Even as prices fluctuate sharply in the short term, long term demand for physical gold and gold backed financial products remains resilient.

Traders expect continued volatility in the coming sessions as global economic data and currency trends influence bullion markets. Investors and buyers are advised to track official benchmark rates and consult trusted jewellers before making significant purchase decisions.
