India’s economy is expected to maintain a robust growth trajectory of 6.5-7% annually until 2027, according to a recent forecast by S&P Global Ratings. The global ratings agency highlights that India’s strong domestic consumption, ongoing structural reforms, and growing investment in infrastructure are key drivers of this sustained growth outlook.
Despite challenges posed by global economic uncertainty and potential external risks, S&P Global believes that India’s economic resilience, coupled with its young population and expanding middle class, will continue to support growth. Additionally, the ongoing reforms aimed at improving the business climate and enhancing productivity are expected to provide further support to the country’s long-term economic prospects.
The forecast aligns with India’s ambition to become one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing economies. As the country navigates global disruptions, its economic fundamentals, such as a large labor force, increasing digitization, and a growing services sector, remain strong pillars that can drive growth.
However, the agency also warned of risks that could pose challenges, including geopolitical tensions and fluctuating commodity prices. Despite these concerns, S&P Global remains optimistic about India’s growth potential, believing it will continue to outperform many other emerging markets in the years ahead.
