“Our goal is to build a future-ready workforce equipped with new-age digital skills.” The IT major also pointed out that hiring continues in key technology domains such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise solutions.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has issued a formal clarification after widespread rumours claimed the IT giant had laid off between 50,000 and 80,000 employees. The company’s HR head addressed the issue directly, calling the figures circulating on social media and online platforms “misleading and exaggerated.”

According to the company, the actual number of employee exits was part of regular attrition and performance-based evaluations, which are common in the IT sector. The HR leadership emphasized that there has been no large-scale layoff exercise. Instead, the exits reflect routine workforce adjustments that occur every year across global operations.

The clarification comes at a time when the technology sector has been closely watched for job cuts due to global economic pressures. Several companies have reduced workforce numbers in recent months to optimize costs. However, TCS stressed that its situation is different. The company continues to maintain one of the largest employee bases in the IT industry and has ongoing recruitment plans for various technology roles.

A senior executive explained that TCS manages its talent pool through structured processes, including training, upskilling, and redeployment. Attrition occurs naturally as employees switch jobs or do not meet performance benchmarks, but this is not equivalent to a mass layoff. “We are not conducting any large-scale retrenchment,” the HR head said, adding that the company has already onboarded thousands of new employees this year.

Industry analysts say that such rumours often arise during periods of uncertainty, but TCS has historically maintained stability compared to its peers. With its focus on long-term growth and digital transformation projects, the company has continued to invest in talent development programs and employee engagement initiatives.

The HR head further highlighted that the company’s attrition rate has remained under control and is expected to improve in the coming quarters. “We are committed to creating opportunities for both fresh graduates and experienced professionals,” the statement noted. “Our goal is to build a future-ready workforce equipped with new-age digital skills.”

The IT major also pointed out that hiring continues in key technology domains such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise solutions. This contradicts speculation that the company was scaling down operations.

TCS reaffirmed its position as a stable employer with a strong talent pipeline. The company urged stakeholders and the public not to rely on unverified information. “The reported numbers do not reflect the reality of our organization,” the HR chief said.

In conclusion, TCS has categorically denied the mass layoff claims, asserting that the reported figures are baseless. Instead, the company remains focused on growth, innovation, and strengthening its workforce. This clarification aims to put an end to speculation and restore confidence among employees, job seekers, and investors.
