In a major development in the Indian logistics industry, Delhivery Ltd. has announced its plan to acquire a controlling stake in Ecom Express, a key player in the e-commerce delivery space. The deal, valued at approximately ₹1,407 crore, marks one of the most significant consolidation moves in the sector in recent years.
The acquisition will allow Delhivery to integrate Ecom Express’ vast network of delivery hubs, field staff, and technological infrastructure into its own operations. According to industry insiders, this move is aimed at boosting operational efficiency, expanding coverage in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, and improving last-mile delivery capabilities, especially for e-commerce clients.
Ecom Express, known for its robust presence in hyperlocal and rural logistics, will retain its brand identity in the near term. However, the long-term strategy reportedly includes operational integration, shared technology platforms, and a unified customer service experience. The acquisition will also offer Delhivery a deeper footprint in sectors such as reverse logistics, hyperlocal delivery, and same-day shipping, which are seeing rising demand across India.
Delhivery’s spokesperson highlighted that the transaction aligns with the company’s growth and consolidation roadmap, and reflects its ambition to create an end-to-end, tech-enabled logistics ecosystem. The company has been actively seeking to diversify its service portfolio and strengthen its e-commerce delivery services amid rising competition from Amazon Logistics, Flipkart’s Ekart, and newer entrants.
Industry analysts see the acquisition as a win-win for both companies. While Delhivery will gain scale and speed, Ecom Express will benefit from Delhivery’s capital, tech stack, and data-driven approach to logistics. The move is also seen as a response to rising customer expectations around faster deliveries, real-time tracking, and better post-order services.
Pending regulatory approvals and due diligence, the transaction is expected to close in the coming months. Once complete, it could reshape the logistics landscape in India, making Delhivery a stronger force in the competitive, high-growth e-commerce supply chain sector.
