Jio Platforms IPO Attracts Record Applications and Massive Investor Demand
Jio Platforms’ initial public offering (IPO) has attracted unprecedented investor interest, establishing a major milestone in India’s primary stock market. The public issue received nearly 1.39 crore applications and total bids worth approximately ₹7.4 lakh crore to ₹7.5 lakh crore, including the anchor investor allocation, according to reports published after the subscription period ended on October 23, 2026.
The IPO aimed to raise approximately ₹30,213 crore, making it one of the most closely watched public offerings in the country. The overwhelming response highlighted strong demand from institutional investors, retail participants, high-net-worth individuals and eligible existing shareholders of Reliance Industries.
Institutional Investors Lead Subscription Demand
Institutional investors played a significant role in the IPO’s strong performance. The qualified institutional buyers (QIB) category was subscribed approximately 70.55 times its reserved allocation. These investors include eligible financial institutions, mutual funds, insurance companies and other institutional participants.
The non-institutional investor (NII) category was subscribed around 14 times, demonstrating considerable interest from investors placing applications outside the regular retail category.
Retail investors also participated actively. The retail portion was subscribed approximately 2.72 times, with bids exceeding the number of shares reserved for individual investors. The employee category was subscribed around 2.93 times, while the portion reserved for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders received approximately 7.60 times subscription.
Overall, the issue closed with subscriptions of approximately 22.19 times the shares available in the public offering.
Record Number of Applications
One of the most notable features of the Jio Platforms IPO was its record application count. Reports placed the total at approximately 1.38 crore to 1.39 crore applications, making it an unprecedented event in terms of participation in a public share offering.
The strong response was significant because the IPO attracted attention even as the broader Indian stock market faced pressure from selling activity and concerns about global economic conditions.
The issue was reportedly fully subscribed within approximately 100 minutes of opening, reflecting the rapid pace of demand during the initial bidding period.
IPO Size and Share Price Details
Jio Platforms’ public offering was valued at approximately ₹30,213 crore. The price band was fixed at ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share, with the company valued at approximately ₹10.3 lakh crore at the upper end of the range.
The IPO comprised a fresh issue of 27 crore equity shares. This means the proceeds from the new shares are intended for the company rather than existing shareholders selling their holdings through an offer-for-sale component.
According to published reports, Jio Platforms plans to use a substantial portion of the proceeds to repay borrowings at its wholly owned subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. The remaining funds are intended to support capital expenditure, technology and digital service investments, and working capital requirements.
Focus Shifts to Allotment and Listing
With the subscription period completed, investors are now watching the allotment process and the scheduled stock market debut. Published reports indicate that the basis of allotment is expected to be finalised on October 26, 2026. Shares are scheduled to be credited to successful applicants’ demat accounts on October 27, with listing planned on the BSE and NSE on October 28.
However, strong subscription figures do not guarantee listing gains or future share-price performance. Actual returns will depend on market conditions, company performance, valuation and investor sentiment.
What the Record IPO Means
The response to the Jio Platforms IPO highlights the scale of investor interest in large Indian companies operating in telecommunications and digital services. The company’s established connectivity business and ambitions in artificial intelligence, cloud computing and enterprise technology have drawn attention from market participants.
The record demand makes the offering an important development in India’s capital market. Investors should review the official offer documents, financial disclosures, risks and valuation before making investment decisions. IPO subscription figures indicate demand during the bidding period but should not be treated as a guarantee of future returns.
