Indian stock markets traded on a positive note on Thursday, with the BSE Sensex climbing by 250 points to 76,950, and the Nifty testing the 23,300 level. The rally was supported by strong momentum in Adani Group stocks, which saw substantial gains of up to 9%.
The market sentiment was driven by positive global cues, with US markets surging the previous day due to lower-than-expected inflation data, fueling expectations of interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve. The surge in US markets helped lift Asian indices, and Indian stocks followed suit.
Adani Group companies led the rally, with stocks like Adani Green Energy, Adani Ports, and Adani Enterprises seeing significant jumps. This increase in Adani Group stocks fueled investor optimism, despite concerns over foreign investor activity in the Indian market.
However, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have been net sellers in January, putting some pressure on the overall market. Still, with solid earnings reports expected from major Indian companies, including Reliance Industries and Infosys, investors remain hopeful about the market's outlook for the upcoming quarter.
Market experts anticipate continued volatility, as global factors such as US interest rates and geopolitical concerns could weigh on market performance in the near future.
