On the third trading day of the week, the stock market witnessed a strong rebound, with most indices trending positively. The Sensex surged past 76,100, gaining around 300 points, while the Nifty crossed the 23,100 mark with an increase of approximately 70 points. This recovery comes after a significant sell-off in the previous session.
The IT sector led the rally, with robust buying observed in major stocks. Wipro, TCS, and Infosys posted gains of 1 to 3 percent within the Nifty index. Additionally, pharma and FMCG sectors saw heightened investor interest. However, government stock BEL emerged as the top loser, sliding by around 3 percent.
This upward momentum follows a challenging session for Indian markets on Tuesday, where the Sensex plunged by 1.60 percent, losing 1,235 points to close at 75,838.36. The Nifty also dropped by 1.37 percent, falling 320.1 points to end at 23,024.65. Market sentiment was weighed down by weak corporate earnings and uncertainty surrounding potential trade policies under President Trump's administration.
Investors are cautiously optimistic about market stability, but external factors and global trade concerns remain key variables to watch.
