Among the broader market indices, small-cap stocks showed some resilience. The Nifty Smallcap100 ended higher by 0.24%, while the Nifty Midcap100 saw a marginal decline of 0.06%.
The Nifty50 saw a mixed performance, with 28 out of its 50 constituent stocks closing in the red. Stocks like Power Grid Corporation, JSW Steel, SBI Life, Titan, and Infosys saw declines, dragging the index lower. On the other hand, Tata Motors, Adani Enterprises, Eicher Motors, BPCL, and Nestle India were among the 22 stocks that closed higher, with gains of up to 1.79%.
Sector-wise, the Nifty FMCG, Auto, and OMC indices were the only sectors to close in the positive, with gains of up to 0.57%. Other sectoral indices, including Nifty Private Bank and Healthcare, ended on a flat note, while several other sectors saw losses, with the Nifty PSU Bank index dropping by 0.83%.
