The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has officially released the Round 1 seat allotment results for the 2025 counselling cycle. Students aspiring for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) can now access their results on the official JoSAA website, josaa.nic.in.

How to Check Allotment Status

To check the seat allotment result, candidates must visit the JoSAA portal and log in using their JEE Main or JEE Advanced application number and password. Once logged in, they will be able to view their Round 1 allotment result, along with institute and branch details.

Next Steps After Allotment

Candidates who have received a seat in Round 1 must complete the online reporting process by the specified deadline. This includes:

  • Accepting the seat
  • Uploading required documents
  • Paying the seat acceptance fee

Candidates have the option to choose among three preferences: freeze, float, or slide.

  • Freeze: Candidate accepts the allotted seat and will not participate in further rounds.
  • Float: Candidate accepts the current seat but wishes to be considered for better choices in subsequent rounds.
  • Slide: Candidate is willing to accept admission in the same institute but prefers a different program.

It is crucial to note that failing to complete any part of the online reporting will lead to cancellation of the allocated seat.

Required Documents

The following documents must be uploaded during online reporting:

  • JEE Main/Advanced Rank Card
  • Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Government-issued ID proof

Original documents will be verified at the time of physical reporting at the allotted institute later in the process.

Counselling Schedule and Future Rounds

After Round 1, JoSAA will continue with five more counselling rounds. The Round 2 seat allotment result is scheduled to be released in a few days, followed by similar online reporting procedures. Candidates who were not allotted a seat in Round 1 will be automatically considered for the next round, provided they meet eligibility criteria and have filled in sufficient choices.

JoSAA's counselling process is a crucial step in ensuring fair and transparent admission to India’s top engineering institutions. The entire procedure is conducted online to streamline the process and ensure accessibility for students across the country.

Advisory for Students

Students are advised to carefully read the JoSAA 2025 business rules and FAQs available on the official website. It is important to make well-informed decisions about the freeze, float, or slide options to avoid future regret or complications in admission.

For technical support or document-related queries, a dedicated helpdesk is also operational during counselling hours.
