The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell has officially announced the commencement of MHT CET 2026 registration, opening the application window for thousands of students across India. The online registration process began on January 5 2026 and will remain active until January 20 2026. MHT CET is one of the most important state level entrance examinations, conducted annually for admission to engineering, pharmacy, agriculture, and various other professional courses in colleges across Maharashtra.

Students who have completed or are appearing for their Class 12 examinations are eligible to register for the test. The entrance exam plays a major role in determining admissions to top institutions in the state, making the registration phase crucial for aspirants planning their academic future. With the process now fully online, candidates must visit the official website to create login credentials and fill in their personal and academic information.

During registration, applicants are required to upload several mandatory documents. These include Class 10 mark sheet as proof of date of birth, Class 12 mark sheet or hall ticket, a valid photo identity proof such as Aadhaar card or passport, recent passport size photograph, scanned signature, and other relevant certificates if applicable. Candidates belonging to reserved categories must also submit valid caste certificates and income certificates as per government norms. Persons with disabilities who wish to claim benefits under the PwD quota need to upload a valid disability certificate issued by competent authorities.

The exam cell has provided detailed instructions on how to scan and upload documents in the correct format and size. Any mismatch or incorrect upload may lead to rejection of the application or the need for corrections later. Therefore, aspirants have been advised to carefully verify all information before final submission. After completing the form, students must pay the prescribed application fee online through debit card credit card net banking or UPI. The fee structure varies for different categories, and details are available in the admission notification.

Along with the registration dates, the test cell is expected to release the full examination schedule soon. MHT CET 2026 will be conducted in computer based mode at multiple exam centers. The syllabus will largely follow the Maharashtra State Board Class 12 curriculum for Physics Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology depending on the course applied for. Mock tests and practice resources will also be made available on the portal to help students prepare effectively.

Education experts believe that early registration gives candidates an advantage, as it leaves sufficient time to make corrections if needed. In previous years, many students faced last minute problems due to heavy traffic on the website. To prevent such issues in 2026, the exam cell has urged applicants to avoid waiting until the closing days. Schools and coaching centers across Maharashtra are also guiding students on the step by step process to ensure smooth applications.

Aspirants from outside Maharashtra who wish to study in colleges within the state can also register, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. The MHT CET 2026 score will be accepted by a wide range of government aided and private institutions, making it a gateway to quality technical education. With the registration now underway, students are encouraged to keep their documents ready and complete the process before January 20. This marks the first major phase of the MHT CET 2026 admission cycle and sets the foundation for upcoming exam preparation.
