The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a directive requiring all affiliated schools across India to adopt NCERT textbooks with immediate effect. This mandate is aimed at standardizing the curriculum and ensuring uniformity in the quality of education provided to students across the country.
The decision underscores the importance of NCERT textbooks, which are widely regarded as comprehensive and aligned with the national educational framework. By making these textbooks compulsory, the CBSE aims to eliminate discrepancies in the content taught across different schools, thereby providing all students with equal learning opportunities.
Schools that have been using alternative textbooks are now required to transition to the NCERT books for all subjects and grades. This move is expected to bring consistency in assessments and help streamline the educational process. The mandate also aligns with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes a standardized curriculum that is inclusive and accessible to all students.
The CBSE has instructed schools to implement this change immediately, and schools are expected to comply by procuring the necessary NCERT textbooks and incorporating them into their teaching plans without delay. This initiative is part of CBSE's broader effort to enhance the quality of education and to ensure that all students across India receive a uniform and high-quality education experience.
