Candidates who qualified in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate 2026 are awaiting the official counselling schedule, which is expected to be announced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) in the coming days. The counselling process will enable eligible candidates to apply for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical programmes offered through the All India Quota and participating medical institutions across India.

The Medical Counselling Committee conducts centralized counselling for seats available under the 15 percent All India Quota in government medical and dental colleges, along with admissions to central universities, deemed universities, institutes of national importance, and other participating institutions. State counselling authorities separately conduct admissions for state quota seats according to their respective admission procedures.

Once the official notification is released, the counselling process will begin with online registration on the official MCC website. Eligible candidates will be required to complete registration, pay the prescribed counselling fee, and submit their preferred choices of colleges and courses within the specified timeline.

After the registration period concludes, candidates will have the opportunity to fill and lock their preferred choices. The Medical Counselling Committee will then conduct seat allotment based on several factors, including the candidate's NEET UG rank, category, reservation policies, seat availability, and the preferences submitted during the choice filling process.

Candidates who receive a seat allotment must report to the allotted institution within the prescribed deadline for document verification and completion of admission formalities. Failure to report within the specified period may result in cancellation of the allotted seat in accordance with the counselling rules.

The counselling process is generally conducted in multiple rounds, including Round One, Round Two, Mop Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round, depending on seat availability. Candidates who are not allotted seats in earlier rounds or wish to upgrade their allotted institution may participate in subsequent counselling rounds, subject to the applicable guidelines.

Applicants are advised to keep all required documents ready before the counselling process begins. These typically include the NEET UG scorecard, admit card, Class 10 and Class 12 certificates, identity proof, category certificates where applicable, domicile certificates if required, passport-size photographs, and other documents specified in the official counselling notification.

Medical education experts recommend that candidates regularly monitor the official Medical Counselling Committee website for updates regarding the counselling schedule, registration dates, seat matrix, information bulletin, and admission guidelines. Candidates should avoid relying on unofficial sources or speculative reports regarding counselling dates.

The NEET UG counselling process plays a crucial role in determining admissions to undergraduate medical programmes across India. Every year, thousands of candidates compete for seats in government and private medical colleges through this centralized admission system.

Candidates are also advised to carefully research participating colleges, course availability, previous years' closing ranks, fee structures, and institutional facilities before exercising their choices during the counselling process. Making informed preferences can improve the chances of securing admission in a suitable institution based on individual rank and eligibility.

As of now, the Medical Counselling Committee has not officially announced the counselling registration dates for NEET UG 2026. Students should continue checking the official website for the latest notifications and complete their registration promptly once the schedule is published.
