The National Testing Agency has extended the deadline for submitting bank account details for the NEET UG 2026 examination fee refund process till June 22. The decision was announced after the cancellation of the medical entrance examination due to allegations related to question paper leaks and examination irregularities.

According to official information, more than 13 lakh candidates have already updated their banking details through the designated online portal to receive refunds of the examination fee. The extension has been provided to ensure that remaining candidates who have not yet completed the process are able to submit their details within the revised timeline.

The NEET UG examination is one of the largest entrance tests conducted in India for admissions into undergraduate medical courses including MBBS, BDS and other allied health science programs. The examination is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency and is attended by lakhs of students across the country.

The 2026 edition of the examination came under controversy after allegations surfaced regarding the leakage of question papers before the test. The issue led to widespread concern among students, parents and educational institutions. Following the controversy and subsequent investigations, authorities decided to cancel the examination and conduct a fresh test.

The cancellation created uncertainty among candidates who had spent months preparing for the highly competitive examination. Students and parents raised concerns regarding examination transparency, fairness and the mental stress caused by the developments. In response, the National Testing Agency and the Ministry of Education announced several corrective measures, including a refund process for examination fees.

Officials stated that candidates are required to provide accurate bank account details through the official portal to ensure smooth processing of refunds. Authorities have advised students to carefully verify account information including account number, IFSC code and account holder name before submission to avoid delays in receiving the refund amount.

The agency also clarified that only candidates who successfully complete the online submission process within the deadline will be considered for fee reimbursement. Students who face technical difficulties during the process have been advised to contact official help desks and support services provided by the agency.

The issue surrounding the NEET examination has also intensified discussions about examination security and the need for stricter monitoring systems. The government has already announced additional security measures for the upcoming re examination, including stronger surveillance and secure transportation of question papers.

Education experts believe that transparent handling of the refund process is important to restore confidence among students and parents. Many have welcomed the extension of the deadline, stating that it will provide more time for candidates from rural and remote areas to complete the formalities.

Meanwhile, preparations for the fresh NEET UG 2026 examination are continuing under enhanced security arrangements. Students are now focusing on their preparations once again while awaiting further updates regarding examination schedules and administrative procedures.
