The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the organising institute for GATE 2026, has officially released the admit cards for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. Registered candidates can now access their hall tickets through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Online Application Processing System portal at goaps.iitg.ac.in.

The GATE 2026 examination is scheduled to begin on February 7 and will be conducted over multiple days and shifts across various cities in India and select international locations. GATE is a national-level examination used for admissions to postgraduate programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, and science, as well as for recruitment in public sector undertakings.

To download the GATE 2026 admit card, candidates must visit the GOAPS portal and log in using their enrolment ID or registered email address along with the password. Once logged in, candidates can access and download the admit card from the dashboard. It is recommended to take a clear printout of the hall ticket for exam day use.

The admit card includes essential details such as the candidate’s name, registration number, photograph, signature, examination date, shift timing, test centre address, and paper code. Candidates must carefully check all the information mentioned on the admit card. In case of any discrepancies related to personal details or exam centre allocation, candidates should immediately contact the GATE 2026 organising authority through the official helpdesk.

On the day of the examination, candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid government-issued photo identity proof such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, voter ID, or driving licence. Entry to the examination centre will not be permitted without these documents. Electronic devices, study materials, calculators, and personal belongings are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall, except for items specifically allowed by the exam authorities.

The examination will be conducted in a computer-based test format. Each paper will consist of multiple-choice questions, multiple-select questions, and numerical answer type questions, depending on the discipline. The duration of the exam will be three hours. Candidates are advised to reach the examination centre well before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card to avoid any last-minute issues.

IIT Guwahati has advised candidates to follow all instructions mentioned on the admit card and the official GATE website. Any violation of exam guidelines may lead to disqualification. Candidates should also regularly check the official GATE 2026 portal for updates related to answer keys, result dates, and scorecard availability.
