New Delhi:
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially announced a revised exam pattern for NEET MDS 2025, the entrance test for postgraduate dental courses across India. A major highlight of the update is the introduction of time-bound sections, a move aimed at improving evaluation fairness and testing a candidate’s time management skills more effectively.
Under the new structure, the exam will be divided into multiple sections, each allotted a specific time limit. Candidates will need to complete each section within its designated duration before moving to the next. Unlike the previous pattern, where the entire exam was presented as a single block of time, this format ensures a more uniform assessment of all aspirants.
The exam will still be conducted in computer-based mode, with the total duration remaining approximately three hours. The number of questions and marking scheme will remain similar, but the time-based segmentation is expected to challenge students’ preparation strategies.
The NBEMS clarified that this change has been implemented to align with global testing standards and improve transparency in scoring. Experts believe this move will reduce the chances of students spending excessive time on particular sections and encourage a more balanced attempt throughout the paper.
Aspirants are advised to visit the official NBEMS website (www.natboard.edu.in) for the updated syllabus, exam guidelines, and demo tests that reflect the new structure. Mock tests adhering to the revised pattern will also be made available soon to help candidates get accustomed to the time restrictions.
Coaching institutes and academic mentors have welcomed the change, though they stress the importance of early adaptation to the new format. Students are encouraged to incorporate time-based practice sessions into their preparation to enhance accuracy under pressure.
NEET MDS 2025 is expected to be conducted in the first quarter of the year. Registration dates and the detailed information bulletin will be released shortly.
