The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has officially announced the postponement of the UP Board Compartment Exams 2025 for Classes 10 and 12. The decision comes in light of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, a major religious pilgrimage that takes place annually during the Hindu month of Shravan. The revised exam schedule is expected to be released shortly on the board’s official website.
The compartment exams were originally scheduled to be conducted in mid-July 2025. However, the Kanwar Yatra, which sees the participation of lakhs of devotees across northern India including Uttar Pradesh, poses challenges in terms of traffic regulation, security deployment, and public infrastructure usage. In this context, state education authorities have decided to defer the exams to avoid any inconvenience to students and ensure smooth conduct of both events.
Officials from UPMSP explained that the postponement is a preventive measure, taken in consultation with local law enforcement and district administrations. With a large number of police personnel and administrative staff engaged in managing the Kanwar Yatra, it would have been difficult to ensure adequate security and logistical support for exam centres.
The board has assured students that the revised dates will be released well in advance, allowing sufficient time for preparation. Students who were scheduled to appear for the compartment exams are advised to stay updated by regularly visiting the official UP Board website at upmsp.edu.in. All official announcements, including the new date sheet and exam-related instructions, will be made available through the board’s online portal.
This year’s compartment exams are especially important for students who were unable to clear one or more subjects in the main board examinations held earlier. The exams offer them a crucial opportunity to improve their scores and avoid losing an academic year. Hence, the board is expected to ensure that the new schedule is practical and student-friendly.
Educational institutions and teachers have welcomed the decision, noting that student safety must be the top priority. Many also pointed out that postponing the exams will allow better coordination between various departments during the Kanwar Yatra, which often results in temporary road closures and disruptions in public transport systems.
The UPMSP is also expected to issue revised admit cards once the new schedule is finalized. Students are advised to retain their previous admit cards until further notice and to follow all exam-related instructions as provided by their respective schools and examination centres.
This development is one among several recent instances where public examinations in India have been rescheduled due to cultural or religious events. The coordination between educational boards and civic authorities highlights the effort to maintain both public order and academic continuity.
Students and parents are encouraged to prepare according to the updated timelines and await official confirmation regarding the rescheduled dates. The board has assured that all necessary arrangements will be made to conduct the exams smoothly once the Kanwar Yatra concludes.
