The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is set to release the Detailed Application Form (DAF 1) for the Civil Services Mains Examination 2025 in the coming days. According to official sources, a total of 14,161 candidates who cleared the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 are now eligible to apply for the Mains stage by submitting DAF 1 through the UPSC portal.

The DAF 1 is a mandatory document that candidates must fill and submit online in order to appear for the Mains examination. It includes essential personal, academic, and employment details, along with preferences for various services such as IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS. The form also requires candidates to upload scanned copies of supporting documents, such as educational certificates, identity proof, caste or EWS certificates (if applicable), and a recent photograph.

UPSC will make an official announcement regarding the release date and submission deadline of DAF 1 on its website (https://upsc.gov.in). Candidates are strongly advised to keep their documents ready and complete the form accurately within the specified time frame, as late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.

The Civil Services Mains Examination is the second stage of the UPSC CSE, following the Preliminary Examination. The Mains consist of nine descriptive papers, including four General Studies papers, two language papers, one Essay paper, and two optional subject papers. Candidates who successfully complete the Mains stage will be shortlisted for the final round, which is the Personality Test (Interview).

Experts recommend that candidates thoroughly review their entries in DAF 1 before final submission, as errors or incomplete information can lead to disqualification. Candidates should also carefully select their optional subject, keeping in mind their strengths and previous academic background.

With a growing number of aspirants each year, the competition in the UPSC examination continues to be one of the toughest among government job selections. The release of DAF 1 marks a crucial milestone in the journey of every civil service aspirant, transitioning from objective-type testing to a more analytical and written examination.

The Commission also provides detailed guidelines and FAQs to help candidates navigate the DAF 1 process. Aspirants should ensure that they follow official instructions and avoid relying on unofficial sources that may contain outdated or incorrect information.

In addition to filling out the form, candidates are also encouraged to begin intensive preparation for the Mains exam, focusing on answer writing, current affairs, and revision of key subjects. Time management and consistency will be vital in the upcoming months.

Once the DAF 1 is released, all eligible candidates will be able to access it via the official UPSC website by logging in with their credentials.
