Anganwadi workers and assistants play a crucial role in delivering essential government services related to maternal health, child nutrition, vaccination awareness, and pre school education under the Integrated Child Development Services scheme.

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major recruitment drive for the Anganwadi Department by releasing 948 vacancies for women candidates. The recruitment includes posts for Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi assistants and aims to improve the reach and efficiency of child development services in the state. The application process has already begun and eligible candidates can submit their applications online until December 19, 2025.

According to official details, out of the total 948 vacancies, 12 posts are reserved for Anganwadi workers while a significant 936 posts are allocated for Anganwadi assistants. This recruitment drive is expected to provide employment opportunities to a large number of women at the grassroots level while also strengthening the implementation of health, nutrition, and early childhood education schemes.

The highest number of vacancies has been reported in blocks such as Sohawal, Amaniganj, Milkipur, Haringtonganj, Masaudha, and Ayodhya city. On the other hand, comparatively fewer vacancies are available in areas like Pura Bazaar, Rudauli, and Bikapur. The district wise distribution has been carefully planned based on local requirements and population density.

To ensure wider participation, the eligibility criteria have been kept simple and inclusive. Applicants must be residents of the respective Gram Sabha or ward from where they are applying. Educational qualifications vary depending on the post, with basic schooling being sufficient for Anganwadi assistant posts. Preference will be given to women from economically weaker sections and socially disadvantaged communities in accordance with government reservation policies.

The selection process will be conducted based on merit prepared from educational qualification records. No written examination is expected for these posts. This transparent method is intended to give equal opportunities to candidates from rural backgrounds and to reduce the burden of competitive testing.

They serve as the backbone of grassroots welfare programs in rural and semi urban areas.

The Uttar Pradesh government has stated that this recruitment will significantly improve service delivery at Anganwadi centers and strengthen community level welfare activities. The move is also part of the state’s broader initiative to increase women’s participation in the workforce and provide stable income avenues at the village level.

Interested candidates are advised to carefully read the official notification before applying. They must keep essential documents such as residence proof, educational certificates, caste certificate if applicable, and identity proof ready at the time of application. Only online applications will be accepted and incomplete or incorrect forms may be rejected.

The department has also instructed applicants to regularly check the official website for updates regarding merit lists, document verification schedules, and appointment letters. Selected candidates will be posted in their respective districts based on vacancy availability.
