The actor's performance in the earlier film helped him gain recognition across several Indian markets, while the Japanese release of Mirai could further strengthen his overseas audience.

Teja Sajja’s Mirai is attracting significant attention in Japan ahead of its theatrical release, with the film reportedly making strong progress in Day 1 advance bookings. The Telugu fantasy action film is scheduled to open in Japan on August 21, 2026, and its early ticket sales have placed it among the top Indian films in the Japanese market.

According to current advance booking tracking, Mirai has reached seventh position among Indian films for Day 1 advance bookings in Japan. The film has reportedly moved ahead of several major Indian titles, including Baahubali 2, Tiger Zinda Hai and Dhurandhar 2. The ranking is based on advance ticket sales and can change before the film's release as additional bookings are recorded. 

The development is particularly significant for Teja Sajja, who has been building a wider audience following the success of HanuMan. His earlier fantasy film also received attention in Japan, helping introduce the actor to audiences outside India. Mirai now appears to be taking that international visibility a step further.

Mirai is being presented as a fantasy adventure featuring Indian mythology, action and large-scale visual elements. The film has been positioned as a theatrical spectacle, which could be one reason behind the early interest among Japanese moviegoers.

The Japanese release is titled Mirai: Warrior of Destiny. Promotional activities for the Japanese market have included a special message from Teja Sajja in Japanese, in which the actor expressed his excitement about meeting Japanese audiences.

The current advance booking performance is also noteworthy because Japan has become an increasingly important overseas market for Indian cinema. Films such as RRR, Baahubali 2, Pushpa 2, Devara and Salaar have previously established strong visibility among Japanese audiences. Mirai's position in the current advance booking rankings indicates that Telugu cinema continues to attract interest in the country.

The comparison with Baahubali 2 is particularly notable because the SS Rajamouli film has enjoyed a strong following among Japanese audiences. However, the current ranking does not mean that Mirai has already surpassed those films in overall collections. It refers specifically to the available Day 1 advance booking data before Mirai's release.

Similarly, Mirai moving ahead of Tiger Zinda Hai and Dhurandhar 2 in advance bookings should be understood as a comparison of early ticket sales rather than a comparison of the films' eventual box office performances.

The film still has time to increase its advance sales before its Japanese theatrical opening. With additional shows and bookings becoming available, its position could change before August 21.

The early response is encouraging for the film's team and for Teja Sajja. His growing visibility in international markets could help establish him as a recognised name among audiences beyond the Telugu-speaking regions.

Producer TG Vishwa Prasad has also highlighted the significance of the Japanese response, saying that the growing interest demonstrates the expanding international appeal of Telugu cinema.

Mirai's Japanese performance will be closely watched after its release because advance bookings provide only an indication of initial audience interest. Actual box office performance will depend on theatre occupancy, audience reviews, word of mouth and the number of screens and shows allocated to the film.

The movie's fantasy theme could also work in its favour in Japan, where Indian films with distinctive visual storytelling and mythology have developed a dedicated audience. The international appeal of Telugu cinema has grown considerably in recent years, particularly through films that combine large-scale action with culturally specific stories.

For Teja Sajja, Mirai represents another opportunity to expand his profile after HanuMan. The actor's performance in the earlier film helped him gain recognition across several Indian markets, while the Japanese release of Mirai could further strengthen his overseas audience.

The current seventh-place position is therefore an encouraging early indicator. However, it is important to wait for the actual theatrical release and verified box office figures before drawing conclusions about the film's overall success in Japan.

With two days of advance bookings remaining at the time of the latest reports, Mirai could potentially climb further in the Japanese Day 1 ranking. The film's final position will become clearer once advance sales close and the movie begins its theatrical run.

For now, the key takeaway is that Teja Sajja's Mirai has generated strong pre-release interest in Japan and has entered a competitive list of Indian films with substantial international visibility. Its reported performance ahead of Baahubali 2, Tiger Zinda Hai and Dhurandhar 2 has created additional attention around the film's Japanese release
