Actor Nani has made a special request to the Telangana government ahead of the theatrical release of his upcoming film The Paradise. The actor has sought permission to attend the film’s premiere at a theatre in Hyderabad’s RTC X Roads and watch the screening alongside the audience.
Nani made the request through a post addressed to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and officials of the Telangana Police. He said that watching films with audiences has always been an important part of his relationship with cinema and that RTC X Roads has a special place in Hyderabad’s cinema culture.
According to reports, Nani wanted to attend the special premiere scheduled for September 23, one day before The Paradise is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on September 24. He said that experiencing the film with the audience for whom it was made would be particularly meaningful to him.
Nani also told the authorities that the team would follow the necessary safety protocols and guidelines. His request comes at a time when crowd management and public safety remain important considerations for large film premieres and events in Telangana.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has responded to Nani’s request. Rather than directly granting permission through his response, the Chief Minister asked the actor to submit an official application to the designated local police station. According to the Chief Minister’s response, the concerned police team would review the request and take a decision based on crowd management and public safety requirements.
The response means that Nani’s proposed appearance at the RTC X Roads premiere was not finally confirmed in the reports available at the time of publication. The police and relevant authorities would need to review the application and determine whether the visit could be accommodated safely.
The location of Nani’s proposed appearance is also significant because RTC X Roads has previously been associated with major film premieres and large gatherings. In December 2024, a stampede occurred at Sandhya Theatre in the same area during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule. A 35 year old woman died in the incident and her young son was seriously injured. The incident led to legal proceedings and increased attention on crowd control and safety arrangements surrounding major film events.
The earlier incident has also influenced the way authorities approach high profile film events. According to reports, permissions for premieres and promotional gatherings have since been subject to greater scrutiny, particularly where the presence of a leading actor could attract large crowds.
Nani’s latest request therefore involves not only his personal wish to watch The Paradise with moviegoers but also the practical requirement of ensuring public safety. The actor has specifically stated that his team would follow the applicable protocols, while the Chief Minister has directed the matter toward the local police for an official review.
The Paradise is directed by Srikanth Odela and marks another collaboration between the filmmaker and Nani following their earlier work together. The film is described as a period action drama set in 1980s Secunderabad. Nani plays the lead character, while Raghav Juyal is part of the cast as the principal antagonist. Sonali Kulkarni and other actors are also associated with the project.
The film has also attracted attention because of its planned special screening and revised ticket pricing in Telangana. The state government has approved a special screening for September 23 at 6:30 PM, with tickets for that screening fixed at Rs 500. The government has also permitted increased ticket prices for the initial days of the film’s theatrical run.
Under the reported government order, the revised ticket prices are applicable during the opening period from September 24 to September 27. Single screen theatres have been permitted an additional charge of Rs 48 over the existing rate, while multiplexes and special theatres can charge an additional Rs 95. A different ticket increase has been permitted for the subsequent period from September 28 to October 3.
The government order also reportedly includes conditions for theatres screening the film. These include public awareness messages concerning the harmful effects of narcotics and drugs, as well as cybercrime awareness messages. The production house has also reportedly been directed to contribute Rs 1 crore to the Telugu Film Industry Employees Welfare Committee.
The Paradise has been promoted as an important release for Nani and director Srikanth Odela. Ahead of its release, Nani has described the project as one of the most physically and mentally demanding films of his career. He has also clarified some reports circulating on social media about the film’s action sequences, saying that certain claims about an underwater sequence and a fight involving 1,000 people were incorrect.
For Nani, attending the premiere with the audience would offer an opportunity to experience the response to the film directly. However, his proposed appearance at RTC X Roads remains subject to the formal police application and safety assessment requested by the Chief Minister.
With the premiere scheduled for September 23 and the worldwide theatrical release planned for September 24, the final decision regarding Nani’s presence at the RTC X Roads screening is expected to depend on the authorities’ assessment of crowd control, security and public safety arrangements.
