The Chief Electoral Officer of Arunachal Pradesh has officially published the draft electoral roll as part of the Special Summary Revision for 2026. The publication marks an important stage in the electoral process, allowing eligible citizens to verify their voter details and request necessary corrections before the final electoral roll is released.
According to the Election Department, the claims and objections period will remain open from July 21 to August 20. During this period, voters can apply for the inclusion of their names, request corrections to personal details, update addresses, or object to any incorrect or duplicate entries in the draft electoral roll.
Election officials stated that the revision process witnessed significant public participation. More than 7.18 lakh electors submitted various applications during the revision exercise, reflecting strong public awareness and active engagement in maintaining accurate electoral records. The large number of submissions highlights the importance citizens place on ensuring their voter information is correct ahead of future elections.
The Chief Electoral Officer has encouraged all eligible residents to carefully verify their details in the published draft electoral roll. Individuals who find any errors, omissions, or outdated information have been advised to submit the required applications within the prescribed timeline. Authorities have emphasized that timely verification helps improve the accuracy and transparency of the electoral database.
Special attention has also been given to young citizens who have recently become eligible to vote. Individuals who will attain the age of 18 years on or before July 1, 2026, are eligible to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll. Election authorities have urged first-time voters to complete their registration during the claims and objections period so they can participate in future elections.
As part of the revision process, representatives of recognized political parties were briefed on the findings of the draft revision and the procedures to be followed during the claims and objections phase. The Election Department stated that maintaining transparency through consultations with political stakeholders is an essential part of the electoral revision exercise.
The electoral roll revision is conducted periodically to ensure that voter lists remain accurate and up to date. It helps remove duplicate or ineligible entries while adding newly eligible voters, thereby strengthening the integrity of the electoral process.
Citizens can verify their names in the draft electoral roll through designated Electoral Registration Officers, Booth Level Officers, voter service centres, and the Election Commission's official online platforms. Applications for inclusion, correction, deletion, or change of address can also be submitted using the prescribed forms during the revision period.
Election officials have advised residents not to wait until the last date and to complete the verification process as early as possible. Timely participation will help ensure that all eligible voters are included in the final electoral roll and are able to exercise their democratic right in upcoming elections.
