West Midnapore, West Bengal, witnessed heavy rainfall and a sudden hailstorm, bringing disruption to normal life across the district. The unexpected weather event, accompanied by strong winds, caused waterlogging in low-lying areas and damaged homes, vehicles, and crops. Residents reported a significant drop in temperature as dark clouds covered the sky before the storm struck.
According to local sources, the hailstorm severely impacted farmers, with crops such as paddy, vegetables, and mustard suffering extensive damage. Many rural areas faced power outages as falling branches and strong winds disrupted electricity supply.
Authorities have advised people to stay indoors during extreme weather conditions and take precautions to prevent any mishaps. The district administration is assessing the extent of damage to provide necessary relief and assistance to affected residents.
Meteorologists have attributed the sudden change in weather to a western disturbance, which has triggered unstable atmospheric conditions over parts of West Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of possible further rainfall in the coming days, urging people to remain alert.
With unpredictable weather patterns becoming more frequent, residents and farmers are hoping for government intervention to support those affected by the storm. The local administration continues to monitor the situation, ensuring that necessary relief measures are in place.
