Opposition parties have, however, raised concerns regarding the handling of local protests, urging a more conciliatory approach.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed the state police to take swift action against any individuals or groups obstructing the installation of water pipelines. The decision comes in the wake of reports indicating significant delays in the implementation of a crucial water supply project aimed at improving access to clean water in several parts of the state.

In her remarks, Banerjee expressed strong disapproval of the ongoing hindrances and emphasized the importance of timely completion of the pipeline project. She stressed that the development of infrastructure is vital for the welfare of the people, particularly in areas facing water scarcity. The Chief Minister instructed the authorities to ensure that no political or other vested interests prevent the smooth execution of this project.

The water pipeline installation is part of the state's larger initiative to enhance public utility services, addressing both the growing urban demands and the needs of rural areas. The CM’s call for police intervention highlights her commitment to resolving these issues without further delay. Opposition parties have, however, raised concerns regarding the handling of local protests, urging a more conciliatory approach.

As the situation develops, the state government is likely to ramp up efforts to enforce law and order around these key infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on areas where resistance to pipeline installation has been strongest.
