Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh:
A large number of devotees gathered at the revered Lete Hue Hanuman Temple in Prayagraj on Tuesday to observe 'Bada Mangalwar', a significant occasion in the Hindu calendar dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The temple witnessed heavy footfall from early morning, with people arriving from various parts of Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states to seek blessings.
Bada Mangalwar, which falls on Tuesdays during the Hindu month of Jyeshtha, holds special spiritual importance for devotees of Lord Hanuman. It is believed that offering prayers on this day brings protection, strength, and fulfillment of wishes. The Lete Hue Hanuman Temple, known for its unique reclining idol of the deity, becomes a focal point of religious activity during this period.
Devotees formed long queues from the early hours, chanting hymns and carrying offerings such as flowers, sweets, and coconuts. Despite the scorching heat, the enthusiasm among the devotees remained high. Several families arrived with children and elderly members, underlining the strong faith and devotion that the day holds.
The Prayagraj district administration, along with temple authorities, had made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth flow of devotees and maintain order. Temporary barricades, drinking water facilities, and medical assistance booths were set up around the temple premises. Volunteers were also deployed to guide pilgrims and assist in managing the crowd.
Traffic police managed road diversions and controlled vehicle movement around the temple to avoid congestion. “We are ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for all devotees. Extra personnel have been deployed for security and assistance,” said a senior police officer present at the site.
In addition to the rituals and offerings, many devotees also observed fasts and participated in bhajans and kirtans held near the temple premises. Cultural programs and spiritual discourses were organized by local religious groups to mark the occasion, drawing participation from a large number of people.
Shopkeepers around the temple reported a significant increase in business, as stalls selling religious items, food, and refreshments witnessed high demand. The temple management also ensured cleanliness and sanitation throughout the day with the help of municipal workers.
The Lete Hue Hanuman Temple, situated near Sangam, holds a special place in Hindu mythology. It is believed to be one of the few temples where Lord Hanuman is seen in a reclining position, symbolizing his role in protecting the region from evil forces. The temple draws thousands of visitors year-round, but the crowd swells significantly during Bada Mangalwar.
With more Tuesdays left in the Jyeshtha month, authorities expect similar crowds in the coming weeks. They have urged devotees to cooperate with the guidelines and follow safety measures during their visit.
The vibrant religious atmosphere and orderly arrangements at the Lete Hue Hanuman Temple reflect the deep-rooted faith and cultural heritage of Prayagraj, making Bada Mangalwar a truly significant spiritual event in the region.
