Hanuman Garhi Temple in Ayodhya Mandates Use of Pure Ghee in Laddoo Offerings

By making pure ghee a requirement, the temple aims to maintain the traditional values associated with Hindu worship and safeguard the health of devotees.

The Hanuman Garhi Temple in Ayodhya, one of the most revered temples in Uttar Pradesh, has introduced a new guideline concerning the offerings made by devotees. Going forward, the temple will only accept laddoos made with pure ghee. This directive has been implemented to preserve the sanctity and purity of the offerings made to Lord Hanuman, a deity deeply worshipped by millions across the country.

Temple authorities stated that this decision was made after several concerns were raised about the quality of laddoos being offered at the temple. Reports suggested that some laddoos were made using adulterated or substandard ingredients, which compromised both religious sentiment and health standards. By making pure ghee a requirement, the temple aims to maintain the traditional values associated with Hindu worship and safeguard the health of devotees.

To ensure transparency and traceability, all laddoos brought to the temple must carry a clearly visible label. This label must include the name of the supplier, the name of the shop, and a valid contact number. This measure is intended to discourage the use of low-quality or adulterated products and help the temple administration keep a check on the source of offerings.

The temple committee has also appealed to local sweet shop owners and suppliers to strictly follow these guidelines. They have been advised to use only high-quality, pure ghee in the preparation of laddoos meant for religious offerings. The temple has further stated that any offerings failing to meet these new criteria will be respectfully declined.

Devotees have largely welcomed the decision, seeing it as a necessary step to preserve the dignity of temple traditions. Many believe that the use of pure ingredients is essential not only for religious reasons but also from a health perspective. Pure ghee, often regarded as a sattvic food in Hindu tradition, is believed to have spiritual and physical benefits when offered during puja or consumed as prasad.

This move by the Hanuman Garhi Temple also aligns with a broader trend of temple management bodies across India taking steps to ensure higher standards in rituals and temple services. Similar measures have been adopted in other prominent temples, where the quality of prasad and offerings is closely monitored.

The temple administration has assured that these rules are not meant to inconvenience devotees but to enhance the spiritual environment of the temple. Regular checks and awareness campaigns will be carried out to ensure compliance without causing disruption to temple activities.

With this new policy in place, the Hanuman Garhi Temple reaffirms its commitment to upholding traditional religious values while ensuring public health and accountability.
