Prayagraj witnessed a massive influx of devotees during Magh Mela 2026, with long queues forming outside the revered Shri Bade Hanuman Ji Temple. Thousands of pilgrims gathered at the temple premises to offer prayers and seek blessings, highlighting the deep religious importance of the annual fair.
The Shri Bade Hanuman Ji Temple, located near the Triveni Sangam, is one of the most prominent religious landmarks in Prayagraj. It attracts devotees throughout the year, but during Magh Mela, the number of visitors increases significantly. From the early hours of the morning, pilgrims could be seen standing patiently in long queues waiting for darshan.
Devotees from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and other states arrived in Prayagraj to participate in the sacred rituals of Magh Mela. Many pilgrims consider visiting the temple during the Mela period as highly auspicious, believing it brings prosperity, peace, and spiritual fulfillment.
To manage the heavy crowd, the district administration implemented extensive security and crowd-control measures. Police personnel, volunteers, and disaster response teams were deployed around the temple complex. Barricades were set up to regulate the movement of devotees and prevent overcrowding. Separate entry and exit routes were arranged to ensure smooth flow and safety.
Special facilities were provided for senior citizens, women, and differently-abled devotees. Drinking water stations, medical aid camps, and resting areas were established near the temple premises. Continuous announcements were made to guide pilgrims and maintain order.
The Magh Mela, held annually during the Hindu month of Magh, is considered one of the most sacred religious gatherings in India. Devotees believe that taking a holy dip at the Sangam and offering prayers during this period helps cleanse sins and leads to spiritual growth. Along with religious rituals, the Mela also showcases cultural programs, spiritual discourses, and community services.
Local businesses, including vendors selling religious items, flowers, and prasad, witnessed increased activity due to the surge in pilgrims. The hospitality and transport sectors also benefited from the large number of visitors.
Officials stated that crowd density is expected to rise further on auspicious bathing days. Authorities have urged pilgrims to follow safety guidelines, cooperate with security personnel, and avoid spreading misinformation.
The ongoing Magh Mela 2026 continues to reflect India’s rich spiritual heritage, with the Shri Bade Hanuman Ji Temple remaining a central point of devotion for millions of faithful followers.
