On February 9, 2025, the Indian Army inaugurated the Pir Panjal Winter Festival in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. Spanning 51 days, the festival is dedicated to youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and advocating against drug abuse. It offers a diverse array of sports and cultural events designed to engage the local youth in constructive activities.

The festival's sports lineup includes an under-25 boys' cricket tournament, under-25 boys' and under-21 girls' volleyball tournaments, and an open Kho-Kho tournament for girls. These events provide young athletes with a platform to showcase their talents and foster a spirit of sportsmanship.

Cultural activities are a significant highlight of the festival, featuring Gujari and Pahari folk dance performances, music and dance talent hunts, solo and group singing competitions, and science and arts exhibitions. Additionally, there are competitions in painting, essay writing, and elocution, encouraging students from schools and colleges to participate and display their creative abilities.

The festival is set to conclude on March 31 with a live musical performance by a renowned artist, aiming to strengthen the bond between the army and the local community.
