Special attention is being given to health and sanitation, traffic management, and emergency medical support.

In Puri, Odisha, preparations for the world-famous Rath Yatra have commenced with full enthusiasm. As the revered festival draws near, the city is witnessing heightened activity around the Jagannath Temple, with visuals emerging of artisans and temple workers actively constructing the majestic wooden chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra.

The Rath Yatra, also known as the Festival of Chariots, is one of the most significant religious events in the country. Each year, it draws lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad, who gather in Puri to witness and participate in the ceremonial procession. The deities are taken from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple in beautifully crafted chariots, which are pulled through the streets by devotees.

Currently, carpenters and artisans are working tirelessly on the construction of the three chariots. The work is being carried out at the Ratha Khala, the traditional chariot construction yard near the Jagannath Temple. Using centuries-old methods and tools, artisans follow strict religious customs and measurements laid out in sacred texts to ensure the chariots are constructed accurately.

The Odisha government and Puri district administration are working closely to ensure all arrangements are in place for a safe and successful yatra. Security measures have been enhanced, with deployment of police personnel, surveillance systems, and crowd control strategies. Special attention is being given to health and sanitation, traffic management, and emergency medical support.

This year, the Rath Yatra is expected to begin in early July. The main event will witness thousands of devotees pulling the three massive chariots with ropes, a symbolic act believed to earn spiritual merit. The festival continues for nine days, culminating in the return journey known as Bahuda Yatra.

Puri has also started receiving a steady influx of pilgrims and tourists ahead of the festival. Hotels and lodges are reporting increased bookings, and local vendors are preparing for the seasonal rise in demand. Cultural programs, spiritual discourses, and traditional music performances will also be part of the celebrations, showcasing Odisha's rich cultural heritage.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has assured that all rituals are being conducted as per the prescribed schedule. Coordination meetings are being held regularly among various stakeholders, including temple servitors, police, health officials, and civic bodies.

Authorities are urging the public to follow official updates and guidelines to avoid misinformation. Special arrangements are being made for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, ensuring inclusive participation in the festival.

The Rath Yatra of Puri stands not just as a religious gathering but also as a powerful cultural symbol of Odisha, celebrated with deep devotion, tradition, and community spirit.
