Maha Kumbh 2025: Indian Railways To Run Over 900 Special Trains For Pilgrims' Convenience
In a bid to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel for the millions of pilgrims attending the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, Indian Railways has announced plans to operate over 900 special trains during the festival. The move aims to address the surge in travel demand and provide easier access to the holy event, which is expected to attract devotees from across the country and abroad.
Special Trains to Cover Key Routes
To accommodate the large number of pilgrims traveling to the Maha Kumbh Mela, Indian Railways will run special trains across major routes. These trains will connect key cities and towns, ensuring that devotees can travel conveniently and without delays. The routes will include popular starting points from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and others, making it easier for pilgrims to reach the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
The trains will be specially designed to cater to the needs of the pilgrims, with additional coaches and facilities to ensure a comfortable journey. The special trains will also have higher frequencies during peak travel days, reducing the waiting time for passengers.
Detailed Routes and Timetables
Indian Railways will release detailed information about the specific routes and timetables for these special trains closer to the event. However, it is expected that the trains will operate on routes connecting the key pilgrimage spots, including Prayagraj (the primary site for the Maha Kumbh Mela), Varanasi, Haridwar, and other important cities in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Enhanced Facilities for Pilgrims
In addition to operating special trains, Indian Railways is also planning to enhance passenger amenities at major stations during the Maha Kumbh. This includes the installation of more signages, increased security measures, and better crowd management. Dedicated helpdesks and kiosks will also be set up at the stations to assist pilgrims with train schedules and other travel-related queries.
Safety and Security Measures
With such a large number of pilgrims expected, Indian Railways is also working closely with local law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of passengers during their journey. Enhanced surveillance, more security personnel at stations, and special medical facilities will be put in place to manage any emergencies.
Additionally, Indian Railways will implement strict cleanliness measures at stations and on trains to ensure the comfort of the pilgrims. Medical teams and emergency services will be stationed along key routes to offer assistance in case of any health-related issues.
