The Delhi government is set to launch a month long public service campaign called Seva Sankalp Abhiyan from September 17 to October 17, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Monday.
The campaign is being planned as a public outreach initiative involving several departments of the Delhi government. According to the chief minister, the programme will focus on welfare activities and public service initiatives across different parts of the national capital.
The month long campaign will include a range of activities aimed at different sections of society. These will include blood donation drives, health camps for senior citizens, registration programmes for workers, cleanliness campaigns and plantation drives.
The government has also planned a series of development-related programmes during the campaign period. Projects with a combined value of approximately Rs 13,820 crore are scheduled to be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid between September 17 and October 17.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a press conference at the Bharatiya Janata Party state office in Delhi. She said the campaign would seek to turn Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday into an extended period of public service and citizen outreach.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday falls on September 17. The Delhi government's decision to begin the campaign on that date is part of the planned programme of public welfare activities.
According to the chief minister, government departments will organise activities throughout the month rather than limiting the celebrations to a single day. The focus will be on providing services and creating opportunities for citizens to participate in welfare and community initiatives.
Blood donation programmes are expected to be among the major activities during the campaign. Health camps for senior citizens are also planned, with the aim of providing basic health services and awareness to elderly residents.
Worker registration will form another component of the programme. Such registration initiatives can help government departments identify workers and connect eligible beneficiaries with relevant welfare schemes and services.
Cleanliness drives are also expected to be organised in different parts of Delhi. The campaign will include plantation activities as part of its environmental and civic outreach efforts.
Alongside these public service programmes, the government is planning to use the campaign period to mark progress on major development projects. Projects worth around Rs 13,820 crore are expected to be inaugurated or receive foundation stone ceremonies during the month.
These projects are expected to cover different areas of public infrastructure and development. The government has presented the programme as an opportunity to combine public service activities with the launch or commencement of major development works.
Addressing the press conference, Gupta said public service should remain central to governance. She emphasised that government authority should be viewed as a responsibility to serve citizens rather than as a privilege.
The chief minister said the campaign would seek to strengthen direct engagement between government departments and residents. The planned activities are expected to take place at different locations across Delhi over the four week period.
The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is also expected to provide government departments with an opportunity to highlight ongoing welfare programmes and encourage greater public participation. Activities such as health camps, blood donation drives and plantation programmes are intended to involve citizens directly.
The development project announcements will form a separate but important part of the month long programme. By scheduling inaugurations and foundation stone laying ceremonies during the same period, the government plans to showcase infrastructure and development work alongside its public service activities.
The campaign comes as the Delhi government continues to focus on public services and civic infrastructure. Areas such as sanitation, healthcare, environmental improvement and support for workers remain important parts of the administration's public outreach.
The government is expected to release further details about individual programmes and project schedules as the campaign progresses. Different departments will be responsible for organising activities in their respective areas.
The campaign will run for one month, beginning on September 17 and concluding on October 17. During this period, residents will be able to participate in various welfare and community programmes planned by government departments.
The announcement also highlights the government's emphasis on the concept of service-oriented governance. Gupta said public institutions should use their authority and resources to address citizens' needs and improve public services.
The development projects worth approximately Rs 13,820 crore are expected to be another major feature of the campaign. The final list of projects, their locations and individual costs will provide more details about the scale of the planned infrastructure programme.
Overall, the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will combine public welfare activities, citizen outreach and development programmes over a month. The Delhi government has positioned the initiative as a period dedicated to public service, while the planned project inaugurations and foundation stone ceremonies are expected to highlight its development agenda.
The campaign will begin on September 17 and continue until October 17, with activities being organised across the national capital by various government departments.
