Bharatiya Janata Party national president Nitin Nabin chaired his first meeting with the party’s newly appointed national office bearers on Saturday, August 22, at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. The meeting marked the formal beginning of the new national team’s organisational activities under Nabin’s leadership.
The meeting began with the full recitation of all six stanzas of the national song Vande Mataram. The recitation took place before the organisational discussions began and marked the opening of the BJP’s first meeting involving the newly appointed national office bearers.
The BJP had announced its new national office bearer team earlier this week. The new team consists of 65 office bearers, of whom 51 are new faces. The restructuring has been presented as an effort to strengthen the party organisation while combining experienced leaders with younger members.
The meeting focused on several organisational priorities. Party leaders discussed preparations for upcoming state Assembly elections, strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level and improving the party’s outreach among the public. Leaders also discussed nationwide programmes and initiatives that the party plans to undertake in the coming period.
The new organisational structure includes several prominent leaders in key positions. Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed as the BJP’s national treasurer. B L Santhosh has been retained as national general secretary organisation, ensuring continuity in the party’s central organisational structure.
The party has also retained several experienced leaders in important positions. Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal are among the national general secretaries in the newly announced team. Former Union Minister Smriti Irani and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb have also been appointed national general secretaries.
The BJP’s new national team includes 13 national vice presidents, eight national general secretaries and 16 national secretaries. Several prominent leaders, including Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda and D Purandeshwari, have been appointed national vice presidents.
The new appointments come at a significant time for the BJP, with the party preparing for a series of electoral challenges. The leadership has placed emphasis on strengthening the organisation at the state and grassroots levels and improving coordination between the central leadership and state units.
The BJP has also made changes to several organisational responsibilities. K Surendran and Anil Antony are among the leaders appointed as national secretaries. The party has also appointed Rajesh Mangal as national co-treasurer.
The new team includes representatives from different regions and sections of society. According to reports on the appointments, the party has included women and leaders from minority communities in its national organisation. The leadership has described the restructuring as a combination of organisational experience, new energy and grassroots representation.
The first meeting under Nitin Nabin therefore served as an important platform for introducing the newly appointed office bearers and setting organisational priorities. With several state elections ahead, the party is expected to focus on strengthening its booth and grassroots networks and coordinating election-related activities across states.
The meeting also comes seven months after Nitin Nabin took charge as BJP national president. The announcement of the new national team represents one of the major organisational changes since he assumed the party’s top position.
Further meetings were also scheduled with BJP state presidents, state in-charges and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states. These meetings are expected to focus on election preparedness, coordination between the central and state organisations and implementation of party programmes.
The BJP’s latest organisational restructuring indicates a clear focus on preparing its national machinery for upcoming political challenges. The combination of experienced leaders and newly appointed office bearers is expected to play a role in expanding the party’s organisational reach.
For the new national team, the meeting chaired by Nitin Nabin marks the beginning of a new phase of organisational work. The discussions on elections, grassroots outreach and nationwide programmes are likely to shape the BJP’s priorities in the months ahead.
