The agency has also said that handwritten notes were recovered during searches conducted in May and that the notes contained details concerning certain fund transfers to Dubai.

Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that Operation Toofan, the state government's anti narcotics campaign, will function without political interference and that the police will treat people equally irrespective of their political affiliations.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Chennithala said the campaign was not intended to target any particular political organisation or group. He said action would be taken against anyone involved in drug related activities, regardless of whether the person was associated with the Youth Congress, the Indian Union Muslim League's youth wing or the Democratic Youth Federation of India.

The minister said that even if someone close to him were found to be involved in drug related activities, the police would treat that person in the same manner as anyone else. He also made it clear that political recommendations or interventions would not be accepted in such cases.

Operation Toofan is the Kerala government's campaign against the illegal drug trade. According to Chennithala, the campaign had completed 76 days at the time of his remarks. He said significant changes had been achieved during this period and attributed the progress not only to the work of the police and the Home Department but also to public cooperation.

The minister said the campaign should be viewed as a broader effort to protect young people from the impact of drug abuse rather than through a political lens. His comments came amid questions over arrests of activists associated with different political organisations in drug related cases.

The government's anti narcotics campaign has received attention because of its focus on preventing the spread of drugs and taking action against those involved in illegal drug activities. The Home Minister's latest statement is intended to underline the government's position that enforcement should be based on the alleged offence rather than the political identity of the person involved.

Chennithala also responded to questions about the Enforcement Directorate's investigation into the CMRL Exalogic case. The case concerns Kerala based mining company Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited and Exalogic Solutions, a company formerly associated with Veena T, the daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that CMRL made payments of Rs 2.78 crore to Exalogic Solutions under the guise of information technology consultancy services. The agency has also said that handwritten notes were recovered during searches conducted in May and that the notes contained details concerning certain fund transfers to Dubai. These are allegations made as part of the investigation and remain subject to the legal process.

Asked about the latest developments in the Enforcement Directorate investigation, Chennithala said that the law should take its course. His response indicates that the state government would not interfere with the ongoing legal process.

The two issues discussed by the minister have attracted political attention in Kerala. Operation Toofan concerns the government's campaign against narcotics, while the Enforcement Directorate investigation involves allegations relating to financial transactions between CMRL and Exalogic Solutions.

Chennithala's statement on Operation Toofan comes as the government seeks to emphasise equal enforcement in drug related cases. By stating that political recommendations would not be accepted, he has sought to reinforce the message that the campaign is intended to operate independently of political affiliations.

At the same time, the minister's comments on the Enforcement Directorate investigation have focused on allowing the legal process to continue. Any findings or conclusions in the case will depend on the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.

The Kerala government's anti narcotics campaign is expected to remain a significant public policy issue, particularly because of concerns over drug use among young people. The government has sought public cooperation as an important part of its efforts to address the issue.

Chennithala has therefore presented Operation Toofan as a campaign aimed at protecting the younger generation and enforcing the law without political discrimination. The effectiveness of the campaign and its long term impact will depend on continued enforcement, public cooperation and the outcome of investigations into individual cases.
