West Bengal Bypolls: BJP Forms 263 Member State Executive Committee, Assigns Key Organisational Roles
The Bharatiya Janata Party has constituted a 263 member state executive committee in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming Assembly bypolls, giving important organisational responsibilities to senior party leaders across different districts.
The new organisational structure comes at a significant time for the BJP in West Bengal, with bypolls scheduled in the Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly constituencies. Sisir Adhikari has been assigned organisational responsibility for Contai. Union minister Sukanta Majumdar will oversee the South Dinajpur organisational district, while Union minister Shantanu Thakur has been given responsibility for Bongaon.
State ministers have also received responsibilities in different areas. Tapas Roy has been assigned North Kolkata, Jagannath Chattopadhyay will oversee Birbhum, Nishith Pramanik will be responsible for Cooch Behar and Shankar Ghosh has been given responsibility for Siliguri.
The organisational appointments are expected to strengthen the BJP's district level structure and improve coordination among senior leaders as the party prepares for the upcoming electoral battles.
Nandigram is particularly important in West Bengal politics. The constituency has been a major political centre and has attracted considerable attention during previous elections.
