Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal recently opened up about his positive conversation with KL Rahul after the Indian batter was acquired by the franchise at the IPL 2025 auction. Rahul, who switched allegiances from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to Delhi, was bought at a relatively modest price of ₹14 crore. This price was considerably lower compared to the amounts spent on Delhi's two other failed targets — Shreyas Iyer, who went to Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore, and Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore.

Jindal expressed his excitement about securing Rahul, a player he has a long-standing connection with. “He’s very happy, very excited to be part of Delhi,” Jindal told ESPN Cricinfo. He went on to explain that the two have known each other for a long time through their shared connections in Bengaluru, where Jindal owns Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League (ISL). Rahul, being a Bengaluru boy, has attended several games with Jindal, strengthening their bond. Jindal also mentioned his close relationship with Rahul’s wife, Athiya Shetty, who has been a family friend of his for years, further highlighting the personal connection between the two.

Despite the personal ties, Jindal revealed that Rahul’s move to Delhi came with an understanding of the respect and support he sought, especially following his departure from Lucknow Super Giants. Rahul’s exit from LSG was less than ideal, and Jindal acknowledged this, noting that the batter was eager to join a franchise where he could feel valued and appreciated. “He just wants to have the respect and support from the franchise,” Jindal said, underlining that Rahul's focus is on having a positive and supportive environment moving forward.

This acquisition is a significant move for Delhi Capitals, as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. With Rahul's vast experience and leadership qualities, his addition to the team adds considerable value, both on and off the field. For Rahul, this new chapter at Delhi marks an opportunity for redemption and a fresh start, as he seeks to regain his form and contribute to the success of the franchise in IPL 2025.
