Pakistan A captain Mohammad Haris has introduced a novel approach as his team prepares for their opening match against India A in the Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. In a recent video that has garnered attention, Haris disclosed that the team has received strict instructions not to discuss India in the dressing room. This strategy aims to alleviate the pressure that players often feel in matches against their longstanding rivals.

Speaking candidly, the 23-year-old captain stated, "Aapko ek baat batau. Pehli dafa hoga ke iss dressing room mei Bharat par baat karne pe pabandi hai (I will tell you one thing; it's the first time ever that we are not allowed to talk about India in the dressing room)." He explained that the intense focus on matches against India can lead to heightened anxiety among players, which may affect their performance. By banning discussions about the Indian team, Haris hopes to create a more relaxed atmosphere that allows players to concentrate on their game rather than the rivalry.

Haris acknowledged India's significance as an opponent but emphasized the importance of treating all competitors with equal seriousness. He mentioned, "We have to play the whole tournament. Our matches are against Oman and UAE as well along with India. All the teams are important for us. We are preparing equally for all of them." This perspective is particularly crucial as Pakistan A, also known as Pakistan Shaheens, enters the tournament as the defending champions.

The team is set to kick off their campaign against India A on October 19, followed by matches against Oman on October 21 and UAE on October 23. The tournament format allows the top two teams from each group to advance to the semi-finals, culminating in the final on October 27. Haris, who successfully led Pakistan to victory in last year's Emerging Asia Cup, stressed the need for a balanced mindset throughout the tournament.

He stated, "We don't have to think (only) about India; we have to think about other teams as well." This balanced approach reflects a strategic mindset aimed at maintaining focus and composure, essential for achieving consistent performances across all matches. Haris's leadership and innovative strategies will be vital as the team aims to secure another title for Pakistan in this highly competitive tournament.
