Smriti Mandhana’s leadership has played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s consistent approach, blending experienced players with emerging talent.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their impressive run in the 2026 Women’s Premier League by defeating Gujarat Giants and scripting a new chapter in the league’s history. The Smriti Mandhana led side registered their fifth consecutive win, extending their unbeaten streak and breaking a record previously held jointly with Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians. The victory also ensured RCB’s qualification for the playoffs, marking only their second appearance in the knockout stage of the tournament.

The match, played at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, saw Gujarat Giants win the toss and opt to bowl first. RCB faced early trouble after losing star overseas batters Grace Harris and Georgia Voll within the first few overs, slipping to 9 for 2. However, the team showed composure and resilience to rebuild their innings.

Gautami Naik played a crucial role in RCB’s recovery, producing a well paced knock of 73 runs off 55 deliveries. Her innings not only stabilized the batting order but also accelerated the scoring rate in the middle overs. With this performance, she became the first uncapped player in the history of the Women’s Premier League to score a half century, achieving a significant personal milestone.

Support came from Richa Ghosh, who added a quick 27 runs off 20 balls, and Radha Yadav, who chipped in with an impactful 17 off just eight deliveries. Their contributions helped RCB post a competitive total of 178 runs, which proved to be beyond the reach of Gujarat Giants.

In response, Gujarat Giants struggled from the outset. Sayali Satghar delivered a decisive early blow by dismissing key batters Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine in the second over of the chase. The pressure continued as Lauran Bell claimed the wicket of Kanika Ahuja in the following over, leaving the Giants reeling in the powerplay.

Despite attempts to rebuild, the Gujarat batting lineup failed to form any substantial partnerships. RCB’s bowlers maintained tight lines and controlled the run flow, capitalizing on early breakthroughs. The Giants were eventually restricted to 117 runs, falling short by 61 runs.

This comprehensive win highlighted RCB’s balanced performance across departments. Smriti Mandhana’s leadership has played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s consistent approach, blending experienced players with emerging talent. The result also underscored RCB’s growing stature as strong title contenders in the 2026 season.

As the league stage progresses, Royal Challengers Bengaluru remain unbeaten and full of confidence. With playoff qualification secured and records broken, the focus now shifts to maintaining momentum and preparing for the challenges ahead in the knockout phase of the Women’s Premier League.

The victory also ensured RCB’s qualification for the playoffs, marking only their second appearance in the knockout stage of the tournament.
