Amad Diallo has officially extended his contract with Manchester United, committing to the club for the next five and a half years, which will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2030. His previous contract, which was set to expire this season, had a 12-month extension option that the club decided not to activate. Instead, the club opted to offer the talented Ivorian winger a fresh contract, acknowledging his impressive performances throughout the season.
Diallo has emerged as one of Manchester United's standout players under manager Ruben Amorim, contributing six goals and seven assists across 28 appearances in all competitions. His performances this season have not only been consistent but also impactful, with key goals against some of United's biggest rivals, including Manchester City and Liverpool. In fact, he joined the exclusive club of players who have scored away goals against both Manchester City and Liverpool in the same Premier League season, a feat only previously achieved by legends Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.
One of Diallo's most notable accomplishments this season has been his dribbling ability. He has completed more dribbles (28) than any other Manchester United player in the Premier League this term, showcasing his flair and creativity on the ball. His ability to take on defenders and create space has been a valuable asset to the team. In terms of playmaking, only Bruno Fernandes has surpassed Diallo in terms of creating chances, with Fernandes registering 43 chances compared to Diallo's contributions. These statistics highlight Diallo's growing influence on the field and his importance to the team as both a goal-scorer and a creator.
Since joining Manchester United from Atalanta in January 2021, Diallo has made 50 appearances for the club across various competitions, including significant loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland. His development during these loan moves has been instrumental in his rise to prominence at Manchester United. Now, with the confidence of a new contract, Diallo is focused on continuing to improve and play a central role in Manchester United's efforts to restore the club to its former glory.
Expressing his excitement and gratitude upon signing the new deal, Diallo shared, "I am really proud to have signed this new contract. I have had some incredible moments with this club already, but there is so much more to come." He reflected on his journey with the club, emphasizing his ambition to make history with Manchester United and achieve great things. He also acknowledged the vital role played by the coaching staff, the team's support staff, and the loyal United fans, whose encouragement has been pivotal to his growth.
Reflecting on his time at Manchester United since his arrival four years ago, Diallo said, "I have learnt so much since arriving four years ago," noting that the club's environment has offered him significant opportunities for development. He expressed his gratitude for the guidance and support provided by the staff, as well as the unwavering encouragement from the fans.
With his new contract secured and a bright future ahead, Amad Diallo is poised to continue making a significant impact at Manchester United as he strives to help the club achieve success on both the domestic and international stages. The next phase of his journey at Old Trafford promises to be an exciting one, as he continues to hone his skills and contribute to the team's ambitions.
