His tally of 18 goals and 13 assists in just 19 league games this season surpassed Luis Suárez’s previous best of 30 goal involvements in his first 19 matches during the 2013-14 campaign.

Amad Diallo’s dramatic late equaliser earned Manchester United a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield, providing a much-needed point for Ruben Amorim’s side and ending their three-game losing streak. The match was filled with high drama as both teams displayed attacking prowess, though defensive vulnerabilities were also evident.

The game saw Lisandro Martinez give United the lead in the second half. The Argentine defender intercepted a loose pass from Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and quickly exchanged passes with Bruno Fernandes before slotting home. This goal came as a result of United’s tactical focus on exploiting Liverpool’s right side, where Alexander-Arnold was struggling defensively.

However, Liverpool responded quickly. Just before the hour mark, Cody Gakpo leveled the score with a clinical finish, and then Mohamed Salah put the hosts ahead with a penalty after Matthijs de Ligt handled the ball in the box. With United trailing, the match seemed to be slipping away, but Diallo had other plans.

In the 80th minute, Diallo found himself in the right place at the right time, scoring a crucial goal that brought United back into the game. The goal ensured that United walked away from Anfield with a point, even though Harry Maguire missed a golden opportunity to win the game in stoppage time, firing over the bar.

The result saw Manchester United move up to 13th place, overtaking West Ham in the Premier League standings. Liverpool, meanwhile, remained six points clear of Arsenal, with a game in hand, but their failure to secure all three points highlighted some areas of vulnerability in their defense that could affect their title hopes.

Tactically, United’s attacking strategy focused on exploiting the weaknesses of Alexander-Arnold, with 54% of their attacks coming down Liverpool’s right flank. The Liverpool right-back’s poor performance eventually led to his substitution late in the match for Conor Bradley.

Diallo’s goal made him only the third Manchester United player in Premier League history to score away at both Manchester City and Liverpool in the same season, joining Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. The Ivorian’s late strike was a significant achievement, adding another layer to his growing reputation at United.

On the other side, Mohamed Salah continued his remarkable form for Liverpool, scoring and assisting once again. His tally of 18 goals and 13 assists in just 19 league games this season surpassed Luis Suárez’s previous best of 30 goal involvements in his first 19 matches during the 2013-14 campaign. Salah’s individual brilliance was one of the few bright spots for Liverpool, but his efforts weren't enough to secure all three points.

The thrilling encounter at Anfield demonstrated both the attacking potential and defensive frailties of both teams, leaving plenty of room for improvement in the remainder of the season. While Liverpool maintains a healthy lead at the top of the Premier League, Manchester United’s resilient performance offered a glimmer of hope as they aim to turn around their inconsistent campaign.
