Declan Rice reflected on Arsenal's commanding performance in their narrow 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the highly anticipated north London derby at the Emirates Stadium. Despite the one-goal margin, Rice expressed that Arsenal were unlucky not to score more, particularly highlighting that they could have easily netted "10 goals" on the night, such was the team's dominance in the match. "We were probably unlucky not to score 10 tonight," Rice remarked to TNT Sports, sharing his belief that Arsenal's performance deserved a far bigger scoreline.

The match was full of excitement, with a dramatic first half that saw Arsenal take control. After Son Heung-min had given Spurs a 25th-minute lead, an own goal by Dominic Solanke helped Arsenal equalize, setting the stage for a strong finish. Just before halftime, Leandro Trossard put Arsenal ahead with a superb goal in the 44th minute, sending the team into the break with the advantage. Rice’s praise of the team’s performance came from their overall domination of the match, especially during the first half.

"You could tell from the first minute that it meant more than anything," Rice commented. "The first half was pure domination. We showed the intent, the pressure, the desire. You could tell it was a derby." Indeed, Arsenal’s attack was relentless throughout the match, and they created plenty of chances to extend their lead. Notably, Rice himself had a powerful shot in the 73rd minute that forced a save from Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz, Martin Ødegaard, and Trossard all had opportunities to put the game beyond Tottenham, but their efforts were either saved or missed.

Despite the relentless pressure, Tottenham managed to have a few moments of their own, with Pedro Porro hitting the woodwork during stoppage time in the second half. However, their performance was not enough to challenge Arsenal’s superiority. Spurs only managed two shots on target out of ten attempts, while Arsenal controlled the possession and created a total of 14 attempts, with an expected goals (xG) value of 1.42. Spurs’ xG was significantly lower at 0.83, indicating just how limited their chances were in comparison to Arsenal’s dominance.

Rice emphasized the importance of the derby and the energy it brings, acknowledging how much it means to the fans. "When you play Spurs you know what it means to the fans," he said. "As a player, if you can't get up for Spurs, then you shouldn't be playing football. You need to have that fire in your belly." His words reflected the passion and intensity that every Arsenal player brings to these high-stakes matches. This victory marked Arsenal's second win over Tottenham this season, having defeated them 1-0 earlier in September. It also represented their fifth league double over Spurs in the Premier League era.

With this win, Arsenal moved within four points of Premier League leaders Liverpool, keeping them firmly in the title race. While the result was a hard-fought one, Rice’s comments serve as a reminder of the team's remarkable dominance on the night and their belief that they should have walked away with a more decisive victory.
