Dele Alli has made a notable return to top-flight football, signing an 18-month contract with Serie A club Como. The 28-year-old midfielder, once a key player for both Tottenham Hotspur and the England national team, had been without a permanent club since leaving Everton last summer. His move to Como marks a significant step in his career as he aims to regain his form and continue competing at the highest level of football.
Alli, who was last seen playing professionally for Besiktas on loan in February 2023, has been training with Como over recent months. The club, which currently sits just above the relegation zone in Serie A, is hopeful that Dele’s arrival will provide the team with the necessary boost to climb up the table and avoid relegation. Como will face Udinese on Monday, and the club is optimistic that Dele will play a key role in their efforts to secure points and improve their standing.
Como’s head coach, Cesc Fabregas, has expressed great confidence in Dele’s ability to make a positive impact. Fabregas praised Alli’s wealth of experience and leadership qualities, acknowledging that these attributes would be valuable in helping the team navigate the challenges of Serie A. “His experience and leadership qualities will undoubtedly benefit the squad,” Fabregas stated, underscoring how Dele's presence could galvanize the team both on and off the pitch.
For Dele Alli, this move represents an opportunity to reignite his career after a period of uncertainty. He had previously been one of England’s brightest prospects, known for his creativity, technical ability, and goalscoring contributions. However, his career faced setbacks in recent years, including a loss of form and limited game time at both Everton and Tottenham. Now, at Como, he has a fresh opportunity to regain his rhythm and prove himself once again at the top level of European football.
Como’s management is equally committed to supporting Dele as he works to rediscover his best form. The club's staff is confident that with the right guidance and environment, Dele can once again become the dynamic, influential player he once was. His ability to dictate play, create chances, and add an attacking threat will be crucial for Como in their bid to maintain their Serie A status and push for a mid-table finish.
As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Dele Alli to see how he adapts to his new surroundings in Italy and how he contributes to Como’s survival in Serie A. If he can recapture his best form, it could mark the start of an exciting new chapter in his football career.
