On Sunday, Inter Milan lost their place at the top of Serie A after a 1-1 draw with Monza. The match saw Monza’s substitute forward Dany Mota score in the 81st minute to put his team ahead, but Inter’s Denzel Dumfries salvaged a point with an equalizer seven minutes later.
Inter Milan had several opportunities to take the lead earlier in the game. Lautaro Martinez came close when he missed a header from Federico Dimarco’s excellent cross. Dimarco and Davide Frattesi also had chances that were thwarted by Monza’s resolute defense.
After falling behind, Inter ramped up their efforts. With just two minutes left in the match, Dumfries managed to score from a low cross delivered by Carlos Augusto. Despite their best efforts to find a winning goal, Inter could not secure the three points.
The draw marks Inter’s second of the season, keeping them unbeaten but leaving them one point behind Napoli, who now lead Serie A. Monza, on the other hand, remains in 15th place with three points from their first four matches.
