Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Luis Enrique has confirmed that he will be rotating his squad for the upcoming Ligue 1 clash against Angers at Stade Raymond Kopa. The decision comes after a challenging week for PSG, with a late defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League leaving them in a precarious position in the newly expanded 36-team league table. Despite their recent setback in Europe, PSG has been in excellent form domestically, leading Ligue 1 by six points over second-placed Marseille.
PSG's record against Angers has been strong, with the Parisians winning 19 of their last 20 encounters across all competitions. However, Luis Enrique remains cautious ahead of the game, highlighting the importance of rotating his squad. "The most important match is tomorrow. Tomorrow, we'll rotate," said Enrique during his pre-match press conference. He emphasized the challenge of managing players’ fitness given the congested fixture schedule.
Enrique expressed confidence in his team’s depth, but also acknowledged that Angers would be a tough opponent, particularly with the motivation of playing at home. "Angers are a highly motivated opponent who play at home. They can defend well and create problems in transition thanks to their wingers. I need all the players ready," he added, underlining the need for versatility and freshness within his squad.
The PSG manager will also be without defender William Pacho for the match against Angers. Pacho missed Friday’s training session after traveling to Ecuador for international duty, which means he will not be available for selection. Despite this absence, PSG has an abundance of talent at their disposal and Enrique will be looking to continue their strong Ligue 1 form as they aim to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
With the international break approaching, PSG’s manager knows the importance of keeping his players fit and motivated as they head into a busy period of the season. Enrique’s rotation plans are crucial in ensuring that the squad remains fresh for the challenges ahead.
