“It's OK, I'm allowed to not be happy - just as they are,” Skinner said in an interview with BBC Sport.

Marc Skinner expressed that Manchester United are aware of their direction but stressed the importance of maintaining composure following their 0-0 draw with Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League. Despite remaining unbeaten in the league, United struggled to create significant opportunities, managing only one shot on target, which came from Ella Toone in the 73rd minute. Villa, by contrast, had the better chances, with 1.94 expected goals compared to United's low 0.62. This result marked the third consecutive draw for United after winning their first three league games of the season.

Skinner admitted his frustration with the team’s recent lack of victories but insisted that it was important to stay calm in the face of these challenges. “It's OK, I'm allowed to not be happy - just as they are,” Skinner said in an interview with BBC Sport. “I was not happy because the game is fierce,” he added, highlighting the competitive nature of the league and the high standards expected of his team.

He went on to emphasize the importance of being prepared to meet the expectations that come with playing for a club like Manchester United. Skinner acknowledged that the team’s primary goals are to climb the league table, secure European qualification, and ultimately win trophies. However, he also recognized the challenges the team faces as a relatively new group with several new players who are still adjusting. Despite the setbacks, Skinner remains confident in the team’s direction.

The manager pointed out that the team’s rapid progress is essential but requires patience. “We need a little bit of calm; we know where we are headed,” Skinner remarked, underlining the need for balance as the team continues to integrate new players into their system. While the recent draws may be disappointing, Skinner's comments reflect a long-term view, focusing on the bigger picture as United looks to build consistency and success in the Women’s Super League.

“I was not happy because the game is fierce,” he added, highlighting the competitive nature of the league and the high standards expected of his team.
