Neymar’s time at Al-Hilal seems to be coming to an end, as the Brazilian forward has been excluded from the squad for upcoming Saudi Pro League matches. This move signals the likely conclusion of his challenging spell in Saudi Arabia, after his high-profile transfer to the club in 2023. The 32-year-old has struggled with injuries, limiting his contributions to just three league appearances and two substitute roles in the AFC Champions League this season. His lack of fitness and form has raised questions about his future in the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Hilal's head coach, Jorge Jesus, recently made it clear that Neymar will not be part of the team for future matches. He explained that Neymar can no longer perform at the high level that the club expects, signaling a shift in the forward's role. “The Saudi League is one of the best leagues in the world. All Al-Hilal players can play for any club in Europe,” Jesus stated. “Neymar can no longer play at the level we are used to. Things have become difficult for him, unfortunately.”
Despite still being under contract with Al-Hilal, Neymar’s future at the club remains uncertain. Jesus acknowledged that the next steps would depend on discussions between the player and the club’s administration. "I don't know anything about Neymar's future," Jesus commented, adding that there is a spot available for a younger player in the roster, born in 2003 or later.
It seems likely that Neymar will be leaving Al-Hilal for Major League Soccer (MLS), with Chicago Fire emerging as the frontrunner for his signature. After an underwhelming spell in Saudi Arabia, a move to the United States could provide Neymar with a fresh start, away from the pressures and injuries that have hindered his time in the Middle East. Although the details of his potential transfer are still being worked out, Neymar’s future in the Saudi Pro League appears to be in limbo, with his departure from Al-Hilal seeming increasingly probable.
